To ask Sullinger if he'd sit out the season until Tyreke gets healthy enough to trade?
Heck for that price, could have traded Ajinca for a fake 2nd and cut Douglas or even stretched Evans.

I think our rookies are playing in SL without contracts right now. There's still some gymnastics to get done, and we sure as hell don't have $6mil even if we found a dumping ground for Ajinca.

I feel like David Fisher has too much of a boner for Sullinger

First, I question if Sullinger would choose the Pels for the same price as he chose the #2 seed in the East that has a clear opening for him with Biyombo leaving. No way he takes the same money to come here and fight Asik and AD for center minutes.

2nd, I'm not sure trading Ajinca is as easy as many think. I think teams right now are looking for better or cheaper than Ajinca. And often times unless you are giving away a good player you have send out cash considerations with a dump, something the Pel's bottom line may not allow. I was shocked we got paid to trade Babbitt to Miami, we must have had some credit left over from all the tax money we helped save them in the past.

Valid point, I think he could easily beat out Asik for PT, but he want more than ~20 minutes per game.

What's the deal with Brandon Bass? He opted out to become a free agent and it has been silence since. I saw him at Another Broken Egg a couple of weeks ago in Lakers warmup gear, so I just assumed he was under contract with them still.

He's probably well out of our price range, but I think he could be a nice addition for depth.

Already a cap hold for Hield and even accounting for a nice contract for Diallo, we would have been able to create $6 million by trading Ajinca and cutting Douglas. Now there is the valid point that he may have preferred to play for the Raptors over the situation here.

I'm not an authority on it, but I doubt you need space or exceptions to sign Diallo.

The expectation is that he'll get in the ballpark of $1 million, not the rookie minimum of around $500k. I think you do need actual cap space for that since you wouldn't be using a minimum exception to sign him.

If the contract is for more than the minimum, we do. I would suspect that we would want him for 3 years (not the 2 year minimum) to retain his rights, so I would think we would need cap space (or the remainder of the exception) to sign him.

correct

if they want a three year deal with diallo it must be with cap space, not an exception. if they sign him with an exception they'll chance losing him after 2 years

Brandon Bass signed for the veteran minimum. I guess he wanted to play with Chris Paul again.

any particular reason why we haven't officially signed anyone? As far as I am aware there should be no impediments at this point?.

This was purely speculation as to why the presser was cancelled last week, but people thought maybe Babbitt was on vacation and couldn't take a physical to complete the trade and clear the cap space they need to make the deals official.

Been a while now. Babbitt MIA instead of in MIA.
