I would think (hope) that some back channel discussions are being had to gauge interest in guys like Lowry, Hill, Jrue, etc.

If one of them gives even the slightest inclination they're amiable to Minnesota I think Rubio will be dealt in the next couple of days to create the requisite cap room.

I wonder if we could get into the Boston/Indy trade in a multi team deal. Sending out a bad contract, getting Avery Bradley and possibly crowder, sending out 2018 and/or possibly 2020 depending on the contracts.

I'm not saying they wouldn't trade the 1st now if they really liked what they got back, but I have to think they want to keep the only bullet they have left in the chamber available just in case things don't go as planned and they need an in season trade to save the season again.

You wouldn't trade the 2018 if you're getting Bradley and Crowder and sending out Asik? (Not saying that is possible, just a hypo)

They'd probably jump all over Bradley/Crowder for Asik and 1st. I think they'd probably also do a trade for someone as good as Bledsoe now if it was an option. But if they're going to spend a 1st on a Rubio level player they probably wait to do it.

I gotta be honest, I think Avery Bradley is an average player. Yeah i like him, and i'd want him on our team, but i really don't value him that much. We need a lead guard that can be our 3rd star. Bradley isn't that guy. To me he's pretty much Jrue. I think Bradly and both Jrue would be decent 3rd options for most teams, but that would likely mean there is already a lead guard and big man that are the leaders of the team. We have two big men leaders, so what we are really needing is a top player at the 1, 2 or 3, that will lead the back court. Bradley nor Jrue can lead the backcourt of a good team.

We should be trying to land that star in our back court, and it doesn't have to be this year. Moves shoudln't be made that would hinder that in our future very near future, like signing Jrue to a $25M/yr contract.

and to be clear, of course i'd give up a first and Asik for Bradley/Crowder, but there's no way Boston would ever do that. I'd give up a first to get Bradley as well, but as ATL said, i'd rather them keep that in their pocket until they can use it to get somethign better, which might blow up in their face.

Jeff Van Gundy will coach USA Basketball’s roster of non-NBA professionals who will try to qualify for the Americans for the World Cup in 2019, league sources told The Vertical.

Van Gundy, an 11-year NBA head coach and currently a TV analyst for ESPN, will coach a roster compromised largely of NBA Development League and overseas American players in tournaments over the next several months.

It will be Van Gundy’s first formal coaching assignment since resigning as the Houston Rockets coach in 2007. Van Gundy has talked with several NBA teams about returning as a head coach in recent years, remaining immersed throughout his TV career in continuing to polish his coaching craft.

Sacramento Kings to decline extending qualifying offer to Ben McLemore and he'll become unrestricted free agent, league sources tell ESPN.

I wonder how much he'll get. He seems like a good reclamation project candidate if he's cheap.

This league is nuts. I wouldn't pay much of anything for him, think TJones type of deal. He's proven nothing.

Which means someone like Dell will probably give him the full MLE.

Maybe a team like Brooklyn would over pay, but if they aren't interested he seems like a minimumish prove it deal like Jones got.

He was a popular draft option on this board. I liked him a lot back then as well.

The same could be said of another Kansas SG known for shooting that couldn't put it together in the NBA, Xavier Henry. I don't do it unless he comes cheap.

I don't really want him but if he's a guy on a vet prove it deal at the end of free agency I'd take a flyer...he's still young and has athleticism. Not a horrible shooter.
