For fricks sake...a bargain hire of an old guy who hasn't been that successful. I'm sure the light will come on at 60

Hiring this clown is something a bottom dweller would do, not one looking to make a splash. This is a "safe" get me over hire, not one that will grow with the franchise.

Hmmm I wonder why!?!?!?

Oh yea, 75% of them don't watch the games. They're just pissed we didn't get the "big name" guy so that just means we suck and AD has already boarded his private jet outta town

Give me Jrue over Noel and saric anytime. People complain when we didnt have a center for AD and complain when we did.

Let’s get a coach who has 700 games under him with a .475 win percentage to take a team to the next level.

as opposed to a former coach who has been out of coaching for almost 10 years and never won a title previously?

or a bunch of unproven assistants?

are you THAT confident in JVG or an assistant? those are our only option. hoilberg ain't coming here (and if he doesn't go to chicago, they're hiring gentry, which is why we had to hire him now). TT ain't coming here.

I like the hire.

Whoever said it before was spot on in that out offense rode talent last year, not a system. With Gentry were gauranteed a ball movement and up tempo style offense that won't be easy to bog down in the playoffs (and he found out how to effectively use iggy as well off the bench, his offense is similar to Tyreke's)

Everything rides on his AC. Brain Shaw would be spectacular if he could help us get that physical style defense the pacers had

MCW does not suck. You are way off on that one. The holiday trade has got us nothing. He's made of glass.

I'd rather have MCW or Noel and Elfrid Payton and the players could grow together instead of a score first PG with nagging injuries.

What the frick did Gentry have to do with their D? They had Ron Adams.

Anyway, I had a momentary melt, but I'm in Mexico with the wife so I've let it go after a drink or three.

I'll see his staff and see how the season plays out.

This still screams Dell not wanting to be challenged.

I will say this: this team will be fun.

he sucks. he cannot shoot for shite, can't run an offense, and is terrible at playing pnr basketball. he's also old (1 year younger than jrue)

his PER last year was sub-15

at the same age (last year), holiday has a 17.19 PER

And Holiday is still better than MCW, Burke, Payton, etc.

And I like Payton a lot. But he's a horrible shooter and is as bad as Dwight Howard at FTs.

I'm surprised at all the bitching about the hire. Gentry is the coach that is going to get AD the MVP.

Outside of hiring Pop most of the same people would be bitching no matter who it was.

Why are people worried about his age? Larry Brown is still an excellent coach at the age of 73.

Alvin Gentry & Jeff Van Gundy only candidates to interview twice w/ New Orleans. Sam Mitchell, V.Del Negro & Fred Hoiberg also interviewed.

Could've hired Del Negro or Mitchell and people here are melting over Gentry.
