I melted like a motherfricker in that thread. Despised the signing and the trade made it even worse. What a terrible deal.
I’m skeptical that Tyreke has changed. He played well on a dog shite team. Playing on terrible teams fits his style of play and attitude like a glove.
Hopefully he really has bought in and can help us this time around.
Tyreke is not ideal but he's a better creator than Jrue---and for a loooonnnnggg time was the only guy on the team you could give the ball to in iso and say "get me a bucket".

Imagine Tyreke in last year's Ian Clark role. Is that a 400% improvement? 500%?
That's how you would have to look at it. That would be Dell's/Alvin's vision. In THAT role. he can be extremely dangerous.

Hes a better defender than most would think. Yeah hes not a high IQ guy, so hes not the best team defender. But a really good individual defender with his long arms and bulk. As a 6th man. The high IQ isn't that important.

I think he has been humbled a bit the last few years. Humility and age do a lot for a man.
At least thats what people tell me ;)

If Lakers are serious about boogie, do they have any reason to do a s&t that gives us any decent assets back?
Posted on 7/1/18 at 9:20 am to Chad504boy
Not really. No contracts they want to offload (we woundlnt take Deng). Boogie might ask for it to keep his Bird rights. That would be our only hope.

Perhaps because he averaged 20/5/5 this year

The only reason is because Boogie insists so he doesn’t have to restart the clock on bird rights. That’s it.

Talent wise Tyreke is ideal. He’s got the size to help paper over the lack of a SF like Jrue does, and in the regular season when Rondo is just playing 15 MPG many nights the team would have a starter quality player soaking up back up minutes.
BUT, stylistically it’s not a good match. Remember that Tyreke came out publicly and said “Thanks coach, but your style doesn’t work for me so I’m going to play my way.” That’s probably why Demps is having players reach out and sell him on coming back.
Another reason Tyreke is worth going after, Rondo can only work out another year or 2 at most as your starter, if he’s even back this year. It’s going to be hard to fill that void in a few years with only the taxpayer MLE. Tyreke after 2 years of buy in is probably better than any FA you could get then.

Yep! also every other successful team has a guy on their squad that's allowed to get away with 3-4 steps--We currently have too many "imma follow the rules and only take 2 steps when attacking" dudes. Reke is just the man we need to fill that oh so important role.

All good points. The Tyreke reports are a little overblown anyway. It's not going down exactly as reported. I'd put him being on this team as a 10% chance or less as of right now.

You can't report that they called him before that because "technically" that is not allowed. So, even though MANY conversations took place before that, you report that it happened once legal

That’s a pretty big reason though, and the Pels don’t have to agree to it so maybe they can squeeze more than a trade exception out of it.
From Boogie’s perspective, if the Lakers give Boogie a 1 + 1 he’d be crazy not to opt out next year and force a Max because it might be the only time they could still do it.
From the Lakers’ perspective if they have Bird Rights vía a S&T they can pay Boogie less than Max in year 2 and have more cap space and he’d feel comfortable that he could get the max from them in year 3.
Is that enough to get Kuzma or Ingram? If LeBron doesn’t care about one of them I think it would be.

Those of you hoping for Kuzma or Ingram or even Randle in a Boogie S&T are setting yourself up for MAJOR disappointment. You should be happy with Zubac and an exception, honestly. Or just the exception. Even Josh Hart would be a pipe dream IMO

This will be a big deal to Boogie so the Pels can make it not happen. Plus I’m betting they’d wait until the last minute to make it a condition so not doing it has the potential to derail both Boogie and LeBron to LA.

Here's the one thats interesting to me. Boogie wants to keep his Bird. Lakers want him but want to keep the chance at both Kawhi and LBJ
They call you and say, sign and trade Boogie to us with Solo for Deng and Kuzma
Lakers get off about 9 mil in the difference between Kuzma/Deng and Solo. They get Boogie and hope SA eventually takes Ingram, Hart or Randle and picks for Kawhi. And sign Lebron. They have their Big 3
Pels get their starting 3 for the next 10 years, who fits amazing next to AD and Jrue. Plus they now can use their full MLE without going into tax. Bring back Rondo, use BAE on Dwight or Monroe. Use MLE on Avery Bradley or KCP or multiple guys.
Now you got a super deep team with a great front line and a monster expiring to use in a trade next year

Deng is an extremely bitter pill to swallow.
IF it all went down that perfectly and you added all of those other guys then it’s a move you have to make in retrospect. But we wouldn’t know that we would add all those guys and taking on a massive albatross in Deng is pretty hard to take.
