Hunter
16 ppg
6.6 rpg
51% shooting
43% from 3

Hayes looks like a bust and Alexander-Walker is at best a rotational bench player.

Zion, BI, and Hunter would have been a great young core. Especially when the Pelicans want to go small Hunter is 6-8

I always hated trading back. This team needed highly talented players, not depth.

Hunter, Garland, Coby White. Hell even passing on Rui and Reddish for Hayes.

The Hawks are loaded and are getting blasted lately. The Hornets went off on them a few nights ago. Hayward almost went for 40 and I'd guess that Hunter was checking him..

I am fully devoted to drafting and developing players. As a small market team, it should be our focus and specialty. I think that NAW has a lot of potential, even Hayes. But they have to change a lot. They are being protected and coddled too much..

Hunter was the key to a national title winning team.

He would be a starter on this team.

Lol him being the key to a NC championship winning team means absolutely nothing in the NBA

Hunter is also 23 and Hayes is 20. Let's see where Hayes is as a 5th year vet.

I wanted him or woukd have taken the gamble on Garland. Hunter seemed like the perfect 3&D to me.

We also dumped Solo which allowed us to sign Redick

Hayes just has no feel for the game. And he doesn't make up for it with supreme hustle.

This wasn't the right club for him to develop. Probably would be a lot better in a highly disciplined place like the Spurs

Hayes is def a bust.

Even if he becomes what they think, he still wasn't the right pick

Who was the right pick then? Reddish? Clarke? Herro? Rui? Johnson?

There really aren't a heap of guys taken after Jax that are balling out

I have a buddy that constantly tries to make this argument with Hayes and Brandon Clarke and my response is the same every time. I don’t care what their ages and age difference is, Hayes will never be what Clarke is right now, which is likely the worst he will be. Same goes for Hunter.

At 4 my big board was Garland, White, Hunter, Culver.

Even after the move for 8 Jaxson wasn’t on my list. I wanted nothing to do with Reddish at 4, but I would have been fine with him at 8. I had Clarke rated high as well.

If there's one thing I have to credit Memphis for is that they have a good eye of building their roster with young pieces that can come in and contribute. Once they had Morant and JJJ, they stopped worrying about upside and started to looking for complimentary pieces that can contribute. They have a clear direction in the path they want to take.

We are too heavily drafting for upside and leaving quality rotational players on the board.

Memphis is what I wish this team could be. I had Clarke in my top 10 last year and I was the leader of the Desmond Bane hype train this year.

That’s not what “bust” means.

Agreed. You don’t trade down in NBA. It’s extremely hard to find young starters.

Trading back in the NFL is usually a good move, rarely is in the NBA

I think the problem is expecting way too much out of rookies. This is the NBA, not the NFL. It takes years for most to even become meaningful contributors but we’re pissed NAW and Hayes aren’t perfect already?

Half of a season last year
No offseason this year
New coach
Not even 10 games into this season

We’re seeing small improvements out of both and at this point if you keep expecting more you’re going to keep getting unnecessarily frustrated.

Hayes and NAW don't seem like great picks...at all
