That started with LeBron and Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami. But Cleveland didn't involve that dynamic, and it didn't really happen that way in Golden State either.

Issue with the franchise tag is that an NFL 1st rounder carries more weight. An NBA team losing 2 or 3 or even 4 1st rounders would do nothing in terms of making them think twice about pulling a star player.

Basically yes.
But more integral to that is the way the league tacitly endorses the underhanded ways they go about it.
Any league worth their salt would of suspended AD and Lebron for an indefinite period for the blatant tampering they pulled last season. Hit the Lakers with a crippling penalty. Sean Payton got suspended for a year for tenuous allegations. Lebron and AD got a range of nothing to a fraction of a single paycheck slap on the wrist.
Any league worth it’s salt would recognize the product is nothing if only three to four states have teams that can compete because you refuse to implement competitively balancing measures.
So, yeah, the league by default is fricked, but once every few decades luck swings just right and the league is actually temporarily wide open. Unless a bunch of self-absorbed count decide to do all of the above and ruin that rare opportunity. Which we are once again on the knifes edge of happening. And if history is a guide it won’t be the outcome fans of the league, or any of the dozen well run organizations that thought they had a shot until tonight will want...Or deserve.

Then you do like I said the other page, you nut the frick up and play hardball. Shut the league down as long as it takes.
These are billionaires, the players and their reps need this more than the other way around.
I’m all for players rights but when it becomes the snake consuming it’s own tail something needs to change.

Technically yes.
But both were pretty much standing there saying “I’m leaving. Either trade me so I get more money or you get nothing.”
As opposed to Ainge acquiring Allen and Garnett on existing contracts.

The only solution like I said is a hard cap but no max contracts.
It will never, NEVER happen. But that is the only solution.
It actually makes some sense for both sides but the way it is now is too entrenched.
