I blame grif for NAW and Jxson Hayes
But give him props for Jose and herb.

If we could have got a legit PG to pair with BI and CJ whe could have had it all

Every one of those observations are basically accurate.
However, the real problem is the Pelicans should have built a team to succeed without Zion.
Zion has pretty much only existed for his 1st 4 seasons as taking up cap space. We are relying on what appears to be a generational injury bust to save the day and the guy is extremely unreliable.
Move on and plan that he is gone in the next season when he sits with some mysterious ailment in his out of shape body again in Year 5.

I have been. The FO dropped the ball at the deadline.

Again, you have it backwards.

You think losing is proving we should have made a big splash, when losing is actually proving that standing pat was the way to go.

The typical, over emotional, over-reactionary post. No huge move at the deadline (short of getting Durant, which there is no reasonable belief was even remotely possible), would have made this team a true contender without Zion being healthy. Now if we stand pat during the off-season, that’s a different conversation.

My problem with this thinking is it’s like giving yourself props for winning a few $15 bets but losing the $1000 bet because your $15 bets had worse odds. Jose and Herb are nice pieces but they don’t move the needle like a top 4 pick should. We wasted a top 4 pick which is unforgivable.

Agreed I didn't equate the the 2019 draft to finding herb and jose

Griff's faults so far:
Jax/NAW - enough said
Adams - getting a center who's a bad fit next to your 2 stars
Graham - desperate to find a guard, costing a 1st and now 4 2nds

His tenure otherwise has done a fair job of acquiring cheap talented role players. He needs to make a homerun pick/overachieving star trade though.

CJ - Solid trade, minimal cost
Herb - above average defender, limited offensive upside
TM3 - solid 3pt specialist who isn't a complete liability defensively like some guys are
Marshall - enforcer, jack of all trades guy
Alvarado - energy guard off the bench
Daniels - solid defensive guard, questionable offensive upside

Jury still out on Lewis, you needed a guard who can attack the rim which he is. But play time, injury, and emergence of another guard has really complicated things.

He's built a solid team, health has derailed things however. He hasn't gone all in, desperately which is what we don't want to see quite yet.

I just look at it like this. In 2019 we had Zion gifted to us, the 4th overall pick, jrue holiday, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo ball, Josh hart, near complete cap flexibility and a lot of future draft capital.

100% of people would have said then that four straight losing seasons would be a failure.

We are staring at our fourth straight losing season. Our roster is better today than 2019, but not demonstrably. Zion Ingram Holiday to Zion Ingram CJ as a big three is a push. The depth is better, but no one we’ve added since 2019 is a real difference maker. And time is just about no longer on our side.

Time is no longer on your side. We are in 2023 not 2019.

Honestly the team has enough talent and depth to do better than they are doing.

The coaching and training staff need to do better. With the amount of credibility the media has given Green and Nelson I don’t think you can blame Griffin.

If Griffin fired either one of those guys he would be crucified; therefore, the coaching and training staff need to step it up.

Griffin blew it and is responsible for this 4 year long failure of a franchise.

I guess, but Jesus the injuries are just absurdly piling up. Look at last game; yeah we were missing Zion, the Warriors were missing Steph. But we also had Larry, Jose, Jonas and Josh out as well. Can you reasonably expect us to win that game, when we are missing half of our rotation? I know the frustration with all the injuries is getting extreme, but you just can't realistically expect to win games on the road with those kind of injuries. You just can't. Doesn't change where we're sitting and how it's another season about to go down the shitter. But I'm not sure panicking is the best way to handle it.

Meanwhile Durant had 35 points for the Suns today vs Mavs and the Suns did not have to give up much to get him.

How much longer do you want to wait? Again it is 2023 not 2019.

Wait for what? KD forced his way to the Suns. The Pels weren’t in play. The Pels are probably going to have to pay a premium this summer to turn JV into a more modern center. The main other move to make is turning Herb into a Herb type with offense. Again, probably at a premium price.

Well, when you say it like this

Can someone break down what is left?

All the picks from the bucks and picks and swaps from the lakers.
