New Stadiums focusing on adding new experiences

An article about what new stadiums are adding to attract fans. LINK
There's a lot of info in the article but bullet points are:
* Smaller capacity arenas with different seating configurations
* Competing with 80 inch TVs at home
* Focus on premium seating/viewing experiences
* Some new stadiums have field level suites and VIP lounges
* Cashier-less grab and go concessions
* Trend towards more private funding
* St. Louis successfully suing the Rams will make teams think twice about relocating
What would you want to see in a new arena?
If the focus is no longer maximizing capacity I'd like to see bigger seats and more leg room so somebody walking down the row isn't so disruptive.
If the rows are easier to traverse maybe I could order concessions from my seat and have them delivered.
There are only so many niceties you can add, the real attraction will always be the live action. Probably VR with everyone having court side seats is where they need to get to.

Smaller arenas/fewer seats with a more premium feel. Much like Movie theaters have done . Higher quality food options , comfier seats , club level service through out.
In the nba , so much of the game experience is lost when you get out of the lower bowl IMO . In New Orleans , specifically for basketball , there is almost no need for an “upper deck”. create space above the suites for more of the party /social atmosphere standing room with court views but lots table tops, chairs , bars , food options throughout .

A healthy Zion and a perennial playoff team.

Would crush arena revenue so that’s not happening. More than just basketball to think about

I have never understood the fascination with the social stuff. Basketball is a high paced short game. I go to watch the basketball. NBA basketball contains probably the most elite athletes in the world.

I agree , but if you can create an atmosphere that is hip or you don’t have to love the pelicans to go to the game , it helps introduce new people to the games and experience . Wouldn’t be my scene but would appeal to some .
Aside from on-court performance which is most important . Pels have to do something to be able to attract the casual fans on a mid-season Wednesday game against the Wizards.

My biggest thing is I would love better food with some healthier options. Honestly would just love a charbroiler station with a guy on the grill doing chicken/steak sandwiches and salads.
This never really bothered me before I started going to 40ish games a year.

Telling centerplate to frick off would be a good start

I think there's always a need for cheaper seats and that's not going to happen with one smaller level. It's unnecessarily self limiting tell people who can't pay lower bowl prices that they are effectively shut out of the experience that is known to be not be the same but is chosen for economics. Teams need these fans to be ambassadors too. Many people start in cheaper seats and move down to the lower bow. People in cheaper seats still spend money on $10 beers and $35 hats, so they'd really need to increase the price of the lower bowl to make the same money, all while being viewed as less welcoming to fans in markets that need every last one.

These are the people that go to concerts and spend two hours scream-conversing over the music.
SO THEN I TOLD JANICE THAT SHE NEEDED TO TALK TO NED ABOUT THE WAY HE TALKS TO PEOPLE AT THE GROCERY STORE

If you want your season ticket to be worth anything. Do this

Win. That’s what they need to do.
When I can’t attend, I can’t give my tix away without the jokes of people asking what would I give them to sweeten the deal so I’ve stopped posting them. I doubt people aren’t taking me up on them because they dislike the arena.

I agree with this. I am going to my first Hawks game in a long time and taking my 7 year old daughter and wife. If there was only one level, this would make it unaffordable to take 2 people that don’t care about the game. Tickets were already $115 each for decent seats.

Go to less sporting events now, but when I did go, my main concern is the game. I also don’t wanna stand up for 2 or 3 hours. Don’t wanna go to a game to watch the game on a tv either.
