The bench will look a lot better once hart and Zion are back. Need to try to make a move for a bench facilitator

Folks, starting Herb is making a huge difference to our defense.

I didn’t get to watch the game, how’d he actually look? His stat sheet leaves much to be desired tonight but obviously he’s a guy who can impact the game without tallying stats.

32 minutes
0 points
2 reb
1 ast
2 stl
3 to’s
4 fouls
+1 +/-

NAW is fine. I don't expect Uber efficiency from the guy but I expect him to give you some quality production. Which is fine for a 4th banana.

Graham is a lot better at the basket than his percentages lead you to believe.

I won’t say I watched him a ton, but I definitely saw him play a good bit last season because CHA was a fun League Pass team.

He has straight up improved from mid range and attacking the rim.

His early season percentages bear that out.

Not only was he timid to go inside, but he was really bad at it for a guard last year.

Maybe it’s a fluke, but he looks like he really worked on that inside scoring game and it’s paying off. That floater, that crossover step back mid range, that hesitate drive, all looks improved and he’s confident using them.

He just never allows a clean look at the basket for whoever he is guarding. He’s also extremely pesky on and off the ball and forces a lot of turnovers. A chunk of them don’t go down as steals in the statsheet, but his constant pressure forces multiple turnovers every night.

He can’t do shite for us offensively, but considering he’s in the game with BI, Jonas, Graham and NAW, he really doesn’t have to do much on that end. If he can continue stopping their best player and causing havoc defensively, that’s all we really need from him.

Also his effort is contagious. I’ve never seen a Pelicans team rebound like this one does when Herb is in the game. If the ball is bouncing around off some hands, I have confidence that we will collect the loose ball rebound. I can’t remember the last time that was the case.

He and the rest of the team still need to cut out the fricking turnovers though. I’m glad we won, but 20 turnovers still isn’t a great number. It is better than 30, but you aren’t beating top teams without Zion with 20 turnovers

Herb won't give much on the offense, defensively he will lock a guy up.

Edwards was on a fricking roll in the 3rd with 21 points, and singlehandedly got Minnesota back in the game.. Willie put Herb back in on Edwards and I don't think he did anything after

Your confused on this one. In his last year with the raptors he was mostly on 2nd unit and did feast. Ibaka was used as the number 1 except against the really big studs. Raptors got gasol for jv who played less than one adequate playoff game. Raptors won a championship with gasol on roster, but have regretted making that trade ever since. Teams are feasting on them at the 5

So happy for Herb. Given how many guys we’ll have out there who can go and get a bucket once Zion gets back, Herb is the type of guy we’ve needed for a while. He’s so crafty on the defensive end.

I’m not sure what you think I’m confused about?

In Toronto he was down to 22 minutes a game. Yea, being relegated to the second unit that last season.

When he went to Memphis they utilized him in the starting unit and began to stagger him to feast on second units. That combo allowed him to reach career highs in points and rebounds.

My point has been and continues to be, and tonight showed some of that, that you want to be using Jonas in that way as much as possible.

I’m not arguing move him to the bench. I’m saying that you want to stagger him in a way to give him meaningful minutes to feast on backups. Not just because it helps him, but it is a solution to some of our bench scoring woes as well

Well when Zion is back you can do that a bit more.

Jaxson had good moments tonight. If he can give quality minutes you can do it a bit more too.

It'll be nice to be able to stagger JV and Zion in the 2nd and 4th quarters and allow the offense to be run around them. It's going to solve all kinds of bench issues.

It’s kind of incredible how getting one player back would solve so many issues.

That would be what I would like to see, that and using Jaxson in the pick and pop game more.

He’s been praised for his jumper, so let’s use it!

That also could work into helping out guys because if you give NAW, BI, Murphy, and Graham, and Zion when he gets back, a pick and pop center, they are gonna feast…or have a kick out option to burn defenses with

Playing Minny back to back, its so clear why they haven't won anything with Towns.

He's the softest player in the league and spends more time flailing around and whining to refs than he does playing defense. I thought AD was a beta. He looks like Jordan compared to Towns.

I understand why they don't want to do it, but that team could be set up GREAT(similar to the situation Griffin walked into) if they could trade KAT for an AD-like package and officially let that be Edwards' team.

I am not saying you are wrong, for the most part I agree with you but watching the game last night reminded me of so many pelicans game in the past. Except this time the Timberwolves were the pelicans lol. They really did have some bs calls against them and the Pelicans got away with quite a bit. It was weird and also satisfying to see
