Ok but do you think getting only one free throw is ALL on the refs? Or just maybe it was lack of offensive aggression for a full four quarters. Yes refs are dumb and they missed calls but the fact he got only one free throw- some of that is on Zion too.

How many of Zion’s 22 shots came from outside?

Should he have got more calls? Yes- I could say that every game he plays. Will that change probably not. So are we going to sit here complaining about Zion not getting calls or is Zion going to develop his game where its helping us win with or without calls.

Even with lack of calls Zion’s team had a 20 point lead and we lost by 18. Im not going to sit here and say the refs cost us this game or Zion couldn’t win the game for us because of the refs.

It wasn’t good enough to win and frankly if you’re a great star thats just not good enough. With CJ and other guys missing, he needed to do more. When your the best player on the team thats the burden you have.

Well, in the 3rd quarter he got poked in the eye and got a huge cut on his right thumb right when he was starting to take the game over, then you could tell his aggressiveness dropped a little bit, which is understandable when you’re down an eye and a hand. Thats when the “leader” should have stepped up and said ok I need to actually play defense, instead he just stood around and watched his guy pass him up repeatedly, refused to box out, and pouted on offense trying to go iso ball because he was mad he wasn’t the focal player all game.

What’s odd to me is Zion has gotten up on the podium after bad games this year and faced the media, hell he’s done it after every game.

Ingram plays like shite and he’s hiding from them.

I don't want to add to the dogpile on Ingram because I think this board has crossed over too far into anti-Ingram bias, but it's just hard to deny what has looked good for the team this year and what hasn't.

Speaking of what has looked good, in this thread people were talking up "Point Zion" racking up assists in the first half and I thought he must have gone off when I wasn't watching. I just watched a replay of the 2nd quarter and a lot of those assists were just moving the ball and Hawk and Ryan having hair triggers and no fear. They weren't open looks created by Point Zion. That's not a knock on Zion at all, it's just amazing that we seem to have pulled really good 2 shooters out of thin air just when we needed them.

“They weren't open looks created by Point Zion.”

- A lot of those looks were generated because the defense was focusing on Zion. They absolutely were open looks created by point Zion. They had quick triggers but they had airspace because defense was flowing towards Zion.

Again I think Zion played well in first half but it all disappeared in the second half. He missed shots, didn’t pass as much, and refs took away some of his aggressiveness. Again he had to be better without CJ for us to beat a team like the Nuggets.

I get that, he had a good chemistry going with Trey for that last year. I just heard people talking about Point Zion and thought it was more drive and kick which I didn't remember seeing. I also was impressed with the quick release while not being that open for both Hawkins and Ryan.

Like I said, I wasn't trying to knock Zion, I just thought the shooting really stood out. You have to remember, most of the 3 point shooters the Pels have before the last few years were the kind that were so slow they had to be wide arse open to get a shot off. So it's kind of crazy that we seem to now have 4 really good 3 point shooters.

+/- is the craziest Stat. We lost the game by 18, so in 48m that's a -18. Zion played 37m and was a -11. So in the 11m he didn't play, the team was a -7.

Ingram played 36m and was a -29. I don't know how that is possible. Zion playing, without Ingram, would have to been a super high + to make up.

Does anyone have those splits?
