Just got a Pelicans update that NAW is going to the BayHawks
quote:

The New Orleans Pelicans have assigned rookie guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA G League. Selected 17th overall out of Virginia Tech in the 2019 NBA Draft, Alexander-Walker, 6-5, 205, has appeared in 41 games for New Orleans, posting averages of 5.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 12.2 minutes per contest.

Good move. The kid has a lot of potential and he needs playing time to unlock it. Sitting on the pine at this point in the season will not help his development.

Not surprising.

This was probably the plan with our depth a guard untill he went off in the preseason

Maybe balling out against a bunch of G Leaguers will help his confidence. When he plays, he just seems lost at times.

That's good news. It become more and more evident that he wasnt ready. Hope he kills it and bounces back strong.

I imagine it is mixed feelings for NAW. He probably would have liked to see Zion and company compete for a playoff spot. But once he gets rolling and acclimated in G league; he will progress way more than if sitting the bench.

NAW needs playing time to get him out of his funk. Will be interesting to se what Griffin does with the roster spot. Does he call up Gray or Cheatam or do we go after a buyout player

Just because NAW had been assigned doesnt mean we bring anyone back.
Only Gray or Zylan.

to say NAW has been underwhelming is an understatement, needs to find his stroke and confidence. looks way too timid and deliberate out there

he was the 17th overall pick...this isn’t very surprising especially with his lack of burst and athleticism. Some of y’all put way too much emphasis on his summer league performance

I couldn't care less about summer league, he's not shooting it well and really labors with the ball

I am fine with this. He has shown constantly if he stayed on the roster it would have been a lost year for him. Maybe this way he can salvage a part of it and grow. I would love for him to develop and become the more consistent player we saw this summer.

The team has pretty much shortened the lineups up so NAW won’t be getting any playing time without injuries. He’ll Frank Jackson is barely getting off the bench now so they are pretty set on the rotation for the rest of the year. NAW is the odd man out.

I think his problem is with our G depth he was never able to get as much time as say Hayes did to work out the kinks.

When he came in, he felt like he had to press to impress and when it didn’t go it just made him go harder. Hayes had the luxury of staying in regardless because of all the injuries.

I do think some time there will be great for him.

His scoring in summer league was exciting, but what really stands out about him to me is everything else he does. Per 36 he's averaging 15/5/6. I'm looking at him more like an Evan Turner or Marcus Smart type with a better 3 point shot. Obviously Smart's an elite defender, but I'm talking about the general mold of bench 3&D combo guard that also can handle the ball and help run the offense.
