You want Billy to be our best insurance big? What happens if Valuncunias gets hurt next year? Who are you replacing Jaxson with? I’d love to know. GOP Tiger is correct in this one

Billy has a better offensive game than Jax. Both are just god awful on defense

Jax's value on defense is supposed to be that he can switch on guards, which he can, but his footwork is still so baby-giraffe-like that he gets caught out of position so easily and picks up fouls with a quickness.

On offense, he completely murders our spacing because no one on defense pays attention to him unless he's cutting on the baseline.

There are just too many holes in his game. At some point, we just have to admit he is a sunk cost and move on towards figuring out how to replace him instead of hoping year 4 will be the year it clicks.

Yea have a big man who can switch on a guard and stay in front of them get out in the open court a great finisher around the rim shoots 75-80% from the line and has shown he is developing a 3pt shot is such a bad player. What horror having a player like that coming off the bench.

Calling Jax a big man is ignorant as frick.

He can't play the 5. Also, as I pointed out, he can theoretically switch, but he doesn't apply it really well.

I really am confused what player you guys were watching this season.

He was a (-) in every single postseason game.

You’ve gotta see if Willie and his staff can get through to Jax. He’s still young but another season of dumb plays and lack of defensive awareness and I’m done. If he improves a lot then you have a good big in the mix that can possibly be traded for higher value. He doesn’t have high value as is and he’s cheap so let it ride one more year.

Hell, Hayes mentioned in his exit interviews today that he is a guard.

I think you’re terribly mistaken to say Billy has a better offensive game than Jaxson. You can simply watch Jaxson shoot the ball and tell he’s a natural athlete, he doesn’t look like he’s 7’0. Billy has absolutely no offensive game 3 feet outside of the paint and can’t hit FTs and has no prayer of ever developing a 3 point shot, unlike his younger brother. Whereas we all actually witnessed the first few games of Jaxson starting where he was hitting a few 3’s with consistency. Adding better players like we have around him only elevates his floor and ceiling. I know you can’t relate to the idea of growing like a foot and a half in high school but maybe give the kid a chance to figure out his body and play team defense alongside Herb and BI before you “ship him off”

He's had 6 years in this body, stop making every excuse in the book for a top 10 pick who has grossly underperformed in three years in the NBA.

That's not true. Jaxson made a huge improvement this season in his shooting from 3-6 feet from the basket. He makes little hooks and flip shots all the time.

And Jaxson is a tremendous weapon in transition. Our transition game only gets a lot better next season with Zion returning. I don't think people have any idea of how much we're going to run, especially when Jose is at PG. But Herb, Jaxson, Zion, Trey, and Jose are just going to be unstoppable on the break.

Larry Nance is a 5, not a 4, so people saying that Nance makes Jax expendable just aren't even comparing the same positions.

Jaxson has improved his perimeter defense tremendously this season.

And Jaxson is so, so young, and he's played so little basketball in his life. I fully expect him to improve his shooting, his perimeter defense, etc.

Don’t good god me bum. You couldn’t list one god damn thing Billy is better at on offense than Jaxson. Jaxson is 21, Billy is 27. You conceded they are equally bad on defense except Jaxson actually has a good shot of developing into a versatile defender and won’t be hunted in the playoffs like Billy would. Which is why he didn’t play a single meaningful minute in the playoffs. Clearly Willie doesn’t agree with your take

He turns 22 in May. Late bloomer still figuring it out. Run it back with him and see what he can do with this coaching staff and players around him for a full off season.

Some of these posters so desperately want to be right about Jaxson being a bust that they are actively rooting against him. It’s actually sad, I don’t think anything could change their minds

You're literally too stupid to argue with.

Look, I hope Jax pans out. Like please prove me wrong. We can't afford to waste lottery picks.

But three years in, he's been nothing short of a failure on the court on top of being a distraction off of it.

So instead of refuting my point, and challenging the notion that you could list one thing Billy is better at on offense. You question my intelligence. Classic, well done Broski

I'm definitely not saying jaxson will be a bust. This is about need. The pels need a good defensive guard.

To act like losing jax/Graham for josh hart/f.a./lotterypick is bad is insane to me.

This is ridiculous.

Billy misses little bunnies all the time. If he catches the ball. And if it doesn't get knocked away from him, because he has weak little hands.

And I like Billy ... for what he is, which is a bench guy not in the regular rotation.

Exactly, remember that game Billy started late in the regular season where he got like 8 offensive boards in like 2 minutes simply from missing over and over from right under the goal. He’s a great teammate and good for morale but he should never see the court.

You keep Jax and if he still doesn’t take another step forward next year I’d say pull the plug. But he is more than capable of being the backup 4. Nance is a good 3” shorter than Jax but he’s your backup 5 with Billy as your 3rd C. I would love to trade Graham for Hart but I don’t see a way it happens and Portland has already said they want him back and can exercise his option. Snell, Temple and Clark will be gone so one of those spots will be out Lakers pick and I assume the other 2 just bottom of the roster cheap players. We have a full team already, adding a top 10 pick is just a bonus. Be great to find a guard with length that can shoot but I don’t really follow college bball much so not sure who’s available.

The biggest defense for keeping Jax in this thread has been that he is young and still growing into his body.

That’s a shite ton of hope and not a lot of past production for someone that we have devide on paying 8 figures for in a year.
