If we extend that fricker, I’m legit done.

His roster spot should go to Matkovic. From what little we've seen he's kind of like Jaxson if you shifted some points from athleticism to fundamentals and not being a dumb arse.

It's against Euros and it's highlights, but the highlight clips on his twitter page look good. Probably my favorite one is this where he chases down the guard from the 3 point line for a block in P&R coverage.

I really hope Matkovic and Liddell help shores up the frontcourt. Feels like the staff has high hopes for them.

There aren't many upgrades from JV, let alone ones sub-$20M/year who won't cost a fortune to acquire by trade.

That's the issue.

The only guy who really makes sense is Bam, and that would likely cost us BI.

That's what people need to conceed. It's very hard to find a guy who could ideally complement Zion and still play 30+ minutes in today's league. You need some crazy range to be an ideal fit. Only 3-4 guys in the league fits the description and most of not all of them aren't available. Zion's lack of length really hurt his ability to be a Giannis type on the defensive end and on the boards so we have to find guys who mask these weaknesses while not clogging up the lane for him.

And they can’t cost too much because we have 3 max deals. Literally the only person I can think of is turner, and we’ll have to break the bank for him

knowing we'll never go deep into the tax and our best shot is maybe 1 year slightly into the tax, I don't really see any feasible way to turn JV into a Myles Turner AND pay Herb Jones, as I think he can opt out and become a RFA to get paid this offseason, correct?

It’s a team option so we can opt out and make him an RFA. We likely only do that if we already have a team friendly deal agreed upon with herb and his agent

For all those folks saying we should trade JV. You want to trade the one guy who plays every night?

JV is a floor raiser but ceiling limiter. He has much less value when Zion is healthy and the way Willie uses him. At the same time there just aren't any legit upgrades. You either have to overpay for a lateral move that covers some holes while opening others, or you trade for an actual upgrade with a salary so high you almost have to dump CJ, who as much as people complain about him, is essential and not easy to replace/upgrade either.

They're going to have to find a 3rd defensive big that rebounds and is at least a lob threat. Hopefully he's cheap enough that you can keep JV and shift him to more bench minutes where his ability to draw doubles can help the bench offense.

IF you can trade for Turner you do it.

Naz Reid is a UFA and you can make both fit under the Tax.

The problem becomes those shooters you want you cant have and would roll with the same guard group this year minus Kira/Dyson (one of them would have to be included in ANY JV Trade).
