I do think if he wants longevity in the league he’ll have to develop some sort of mid range game since he won’t always be able to rely on his prime athleticism.

It's very unlikely that he'll ever become efficient enough at the midrange shot to make teams even care if takes the midrange. He's better off working on his handle, his free throw, and eventually his 3 point shot.

You’re right

The amount of work he’s have to put in to develope a good mid range shot would be better served developing a serviceable. 3 pointer

Some people are impatient. He’s 20 years old. He’s got several seasons before he even enters his prime.

Precisely, still not even a full season yet.

Giannis didn't become a better passer until 21, elite scorer until 22, better rebounder til 23, elite defender until 24.

At this point: 20 (this year) Zion needs to just understand NBA basketball and conditioning. Just over the years, gradually improve the 3pt shooting and each year take 1 leap in something else.

21 - free throws + shooting stroke
22 - passing
23 - multi-level scoring
24 - rebounding
25 - elite defense
26-30: top 5 player

Personally, I feel like he’s improving game by game, especially conditioning wise. He’s looking quicker and his energy seems to be picking up to me.

Yep and he was looking to pass a lot last night and did so effectively. That will open up a lot.

ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo 1h

Zion Williamson has shot 58.5% through 40 career games.

According to @EliasSports that's the highest FG pct by any player in NBA history in their first 40 games (min. 500 FGA).

As far as Zion goes, I think JJ put it best. Every player in the league wants to shoot 15 layups a game with their dominant hand. The list of guys who can actually do that is extremely short.

Eh, the (min. 500 FGA) annoys me about that. How many players have actually averaged over 12 shots per game in their first 40 games?

People at Zion’s level of prospect so they are trusted to take that many shots. I actually like the qualifier.

He's either someone that only read the thread title, or he's a Keldon Johnson fan boy.
