Mike Brown quotes on Jose

Sacramento Coach Mike Brown gave the Pels a lot of credit after the game for beating them, but his praise for Jose stood out:
Video clip tweeted out by the Kings twitter account.
I know I've said I think Jose is going to lose minutes to Dyson long term, but I also know that every time we think Jose can't do something, he keeps showing us he can. He's just a winning player, and even if he does lose minutes down the road, it will be a luxury to have someone like him as the 8th or 9th man. And if he stays in the 7-8 range, I can't say I'd be surprised because that's what Jose seems to do.

but the guy that's kicked our behind, I know for sure 2 straight games, maybe 3 is Alvarado. You've got to give that man a lot of credit. That man came into the game, he changed the game, he was physical with us, the smallest player on the floor but he impacted the game at the highest level of every minute that he was on the floor, and we paid the price for it. So give those guys a ton of credit because they came in here and they earned the win.

All Jose does is consistently win his minutes, 3 years winning now.

Jose changes the game by playing at 110% effort.. That will always be valuable, but will also lead to more injuries and missed time

Jose absolutely gets in the heads of
his opponents. I love it.

Tonight was a preview of our playoff rotation…Hawk didn’t play and Dyson played 5 minutes. They both have a lot of work to do in order to earn minutes. And neither is anywhere close to taking minutes from Jose. To be the man you gotta beat the man.

We have a lot of personalities on this team that are not naturally vocal in BI, Zion, Herb, Trey, Dyson, Val, etc. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes guys like Jose (and even Naji to a lesser extent) who will bring the energy and effort every single night absolutely essential. Jose brings more value to this team than he would to any other team in the league.

Only difference would probably be a healthy Nance eating up all of Zeller's minutes and eatinf into some of JV's minutes.

Yep. Zion will also get more than 28 minutes.
Hawk and Dyson will get lots of PT in the regular season. Hopefully one or both look ready come April. Hawkins brings the single most important skill in todays NBA to the table, and he’s young. High hopes for him, but I’d be shocked if he plays when the rotation tightens up this year.

Jose's 3-pt shooting:
Rookie season: 29%
Last season: 34%
This season, to date: 41%
If Jose can keep that number above 37% this season, then he's never losing his spot in the rotation. With his steals and energy, he's too valuable as it is, but an improved offensive game takes his value to another level.

and if Trey at the 5 turns into a real thing, we actually may not see much of Nance in a tight rotation either.
I can envision scenarios where Hawkins, Dyson, Nance, or Naji get 20+ minutes off the bench in a playoff game because of the matchup. This team can be so versatile and is a potential nightmare playoff matchup for some teams.

Trey isn't ever going to be an exclusive 5. He's going to play all over. A healthy Nance is a different beast as a post defender.

He’s a fricking gnat that won’t go away. Glad he’s on our team

I'm starting to notice Herb be much more vocal and demonstrative on the court. Herb is the leader we need.

You don’t sit a winner and that’s what Jose is. the rotations are going to work themselves out. Hawk has the length tho play 1-3 so they will find a spot for him but there’s also going to be other nights they want some size and defense and go with Naji or Dyson more minutes. I like the idea of playing around d with a Jose, Hawk/CJ, Dyson, Trey and Zion look. you’ve got 2 good defenders one who has a good outside shot, the other is developing, then you have 2 sharpshooters like CJ or Hawk and Trey to play with Zion at the 5. seems like the perfect blend of shooters to defensive needs to put with Z.
