Anthony Davis DOES. NOT. WANT. TO. PLAY. CENTER.
you're fired

Is this the thread where y’all pretend you didn’t call for his firing every day?

no way
we all have way too much dirt in our search history to even attempt to justify that stance

Firing Monty wasn’t the mistake. It was hiring Gentry.

Uh speak for yourselves. :-)
I'm probably the closest thing this board has to a Monty fan. I thought/think he was treated unfairly. First head coaching job so he had his flaws (rotations, losing to terrible teams) but despite dealing with an obscene amount of injuries and a team that didn't fit his philosophy, we kept improving and his teams generally showed risiliency that this current team lacks. I thought he earned more time than he got.
I'm happy to see him do well although I wish it was in the East.

I think Monty’s been forced to change and adapt to the modern nba and it’s made him a better coach.
Meanwhile the rest of the league has caught up to Gentry (playing fast) and he’s been unable to adapt (having his teams play some small amount of defense).

I was a fan of Monty, and still am I guess(my opinion didn’t change when he was fired).
He’s a good Christian guy, played scrappy in the NBA. I attended a game between the Spurs/Rockets in the Superdome and he signed a pennant for me. This game was before the Arena even existed.
I felt bad for him when his wife died and he was forced to coach the team post-CP3.
Wish him luck, if the Pels don’t make it.

Gentry needs to go.
Firing Monty Williams was the right call.
Both things are true.

That roster he has should be better or at least on par record wise with the grizz yet they’ve been on the outside looking in this whole season

Ayton missed a shite ton of games for them this year.
Phoenix has Rubio though, who is an underrated point guard. Utah is missing him for sure.

Go back and find the posts. I'm sure many posters here will even back me up. I always, always said Demps was the problem and Monty did an admirable job with the shite rosters he was given. Most disagreed, but I always thought Monty was a good coach.

Have a go at my posting history. I was always pretty outspoken in support of Monty.

I liked Monty too and thoughthe was a good coach, but I also thought that he needed to go at the time and we needed to try a different system.

How this is being glossed over is hilarious.

I agree that Demps was bad. I disagree with you re Monty. I don't think he was good coach and I think firing him was the right move. Maybe he has grown professionally but a 10th place finish with this Suns roster proves nothing.
We had a terrible organizational structure at the time and made a poor hire in Gentry but that doesn't mean that firing Monty when we did was the wrong decision.

The one thing I’ve always admired about Williams is his ability to get his team to play hard AF no matter the circumstances. We could play like shite on D for a half but He always get the team ready to come out playing hard when they get embarrassed. It’s the one thing AL has never been able to do. There’s no pride in this team at all.
