that's what i believe as well. i don't think he had the liquidity nor the stability at the time to make a $300M purchase

As I understand it, there was never any intention of Chouest covering 100% of a $300 million purchase. The intent has always been to have a subtantial minority investor or investors.

whatever his investment amount was, his finances got very tight right as the sale was to occur

Probably so. I hear that most companies are seeing improvements now.

I do, too. It makes a ton of sense from the Hornets point of view. I kept talking to anyone who'd listen about getting more help in the frontcourt.

I haven't seen much of him in Sactown but I loved his game in Houston. He was a huge part of that 22 game run they had in 2008.

he's basically another dwest, but a little softer

his FG% for a jumpshooting big man is insane

west will walk, landry will be signed for $5-7M per to replace him

yeah i've said many times if this is the plan, it will (and the bitching is stupid)

but this hurts the hornets in a big way, so it wasn't really discussed in great detail

Jesus, if this is the plan, then just let them both walk and trade Chris and Emeka.

That depends on the new CBA.

lower cap? hornets are fricked

hard cap? hornets are fricked (we're over it now)

franchise player-like designation? we better save that for cp3

unless the NBA owners want to just donate millions of dollars to their competition, i don't see how we re-sign west

Slo, like you know the first damn thing about how much the cap would be, whether there is a phase in period, etc. You don't shite, just like know one else does. You also thought we could never get rid of Posey or MoPete, etc.

I'll wait and see, but I do agree that CL is a backup plan if they can't re-sign West.

well they keep saying it will be lowered (which i doubt). if it is, the hornets are in bad shape

they also are talking about making it a hard cap. unless it's around $70M the hornets aren't goin to get a top FA with that (very high) cap

how would this apply to the hornets if they're likely going to be at/around the cap?

i never said either

You act as if there is no possible scenario which the Hornets or a similarly situated franchise can be successful.

What do you know about the buyout of Shinn? Do you think perhaps some debt was shed with the purchase money? I don't think a new owner assumes the pre-existing debt.
