Capela

Solid enough defensively and can provide 20ish minutes of solid play. underrated rebounder. He is an ideal guy to allow Missi to learn from.

WCJ

Mitchell would also be similar to Capela, and bring the mtfer home.

WCJ is a solid 2-way center who has no true weakness.

Williams is that similar energy big we need to replace Nance with.

These three guys though...injury is arse

Not a center IMHO, but he's a solid backup option to zion

ship sailed IMHO

Only thing about WCJ is injuries. But if he’s healthy, he’s solid and can shoot 3s. Rumors are Orlando is targeting Hartenstein. So maybe he might be on the move. For 12 million a year, I risk it.

So Wendell is a little interesting to me as a guy who is still really young, really cheap, and “could” be a good enough shooter that along with Trey, we could really lean into Borrego’s scheme. If I understand things correctly, this is the first year in which teams can accept traded player into the non tax payer MLE. So in theory, we could receive WCJ without sending any players back. I have to wonder if a first rounder and trade exception could be enough should the Magic sign Hartenstein to a deal. We could do worse, and his contract goes down even more next season.

I’ve been saying we should trade CJ for WCJ. Magic need a ton of shooting and Malik monk is off the board already. CJ’s salary doesn’t mess up their cap sheet since he’ll expire before Paolo’s extension kicks in. They’d still be able to offer Hartenstein more money than the knicks.

We get off CJ’s contract, get a center that can shoot and after BI gets dealt we have a ton of cap flexibility for more moves

Indications are Klay is heading there, so they will not have a need for CJ

Trading CJ makes us way worse. We don’t want to “get off” his contract.

Yes, we can accept him directly into the MLE.

I wonder what it would take? Just a first? Would they want more?

Trading CJ for uncertainty makes you uncertain.

Moving CJ could open up different moves depending on who is acquired. Just saying, its not as black and white as CJ gone/ Pels bad forever.

No different than people wanting BI gone for Trey/ Herb to get more minutes last year. Hawk starts shooting well enough that you can't bench him and we end up in a similar situation.

Not saying it happens but its a possibility.

We have to be open to the trade packages and what else it can lead to.

If your strategy to improve from a 49 win team is to trade away your best players, that’s a terrible strategy. It’s not impossible to improve from CJ. Trading C.J. for WCJ does not come close to doing that.
