Willie was never thrown out as a player.

So it's his first career ejection.

When guys like Taylor Jenkins and Willie Green can absolutely lose their mind at John Goble, you know he is horrendous. Just watched Willie turn into Man On Fire and get chucked

I went to the game last night (first one this season for me) and Goble was geared up to toss Willie. IDK what Willie said, but it came SO fast after the play. The "Ref you suck" chant in the arena was pretty awesome though. Sounded like every single person in there was yelling it.

Unrelated, I was sitting a few rows from David Griffin in section 102. It was surprising to see he just sits in the stands with the fans.

Goble is one of those refs that is smug and wants to prove he is in charge. He was calling shite all night. The call on Billy was a joke and he made a crap call on Jose earlier. He had an agenda and saw it through. He is one of the problems in NBA officiating.

I'm pretty sure Willie said "bull crap".
is crap not a curse word, or did this asshat ref push Willie to say his first curse word in a long time?

45 second mark and last seconds of the video you can see it.

AD can hear whats said, and he said on the telecast last night that Willie even as mad as he was still never said a single curse word.

The level of restraint that man shows is amazing, no way i would have been able to keep my tongue in check

It's funny seeing Naji step in-between Willie and the ref. The Knife is always ready to come to a teammate's aide when shite is going down.

"I got this coach." (Shivs ref)

You can clearly see him say "that's bull crap"

maybe they aren't calling crap a curse word.

I've said this before - on nights when the refereeing goes sideways, it's never "the crew"'s fault.

It's ALWAYS some frickhead like this that goes off the rails and creates a shite show. Of course, there's never any accountability for the referees.

If it starts going sideways and you pick up on it early enough, you can start pegging every shitty call to that one guy. Either he's furthest from the play and blowing the whistle when he shouldn't or closest to it and not calling obvious shite that causes a further official to have to do something.

I agree. I was there last night, and I remember Goble's ref number is 10. No clue what number the other two wore. Classic case of the ref thinking he's part of the reason people buy tickets.

Same here. I've never in my life noticed a ref's number or thought to remember it, but I did last night.

The refs MUST be held accountable. Maybe this would work:

1. Coaches get 2 challenges per game. If they win the challenge they get to keep the challenge. If they lose the challenge then as per current rules, they lose the challenge and a timeout. In either case, they should not lose a timeout.

2. If a challenge proves the ref made an incorrect call, then the ref should get a technical foul, with a monetary fine. Maybe $1,000? Maybe higher (I have no idea how much refs get paid)?

3. If a ref makes a 2nd bad call, they get a second technical foul, and they should receive a MUCH higher monetary fine ($10,000?). Maybe they should also get ejected? Plus, if a ref accumulates say 10 (or 20?) technical fouls as the season progresses, then they should be suspended for the rest of the season. If they get suspended 2 seasons in a row, then they should be fired.

4. Some would say that coaches having so many challenges would slow done the game. OTOH, if the refs are held accountable as per the above, they are not going to blow their whistle if they are not absolutely sure about a foul call. So there should be less fouls called.

All the above is just my 2 cents. It should at least deal with refs like "#10" who think that they are more important than the game they are reffing. Something needs to be done. Every fan base in the league is constantly complaining about officiating. Yeah there's some bias in the complaints, but I do think there is an underlying thread of truth in the complaints as well.

I do agree that coaches shouldn't lose their only challenge if they get the call reversed. There's been so many times of a clearly blown call, but because it was too early in the game we aren't going to use our only challenge in case we need it at the end.

The coach should get unlimited challenges if they get it right. (Until they challenge incorrectly.)

Not MY fault if you're bad at your job. Let's go ask your boss if you fricked up.

You frick up again? Let's go talk to him again. I can do this shite all day.

Look im all for accountability, but this is a little much. To me this is like saying an owner should fine a player if he has a bad shooting night.
Im not trying to defend the refs, but monetary fines for human error isnt right.

With that said, Idk how to correct this problem. There needs to be more transparency from the league to not stand for it though.
