re: Kyrie Irving Come on Down!

Very true. there is a lot of uncertainty and there isn't a safety net. But I think the Pels did a lot for themselves this summer. I'll include trading for Boogie and giving up a fraction in comparison, drafting FJ, signing Chris Finch who honed James Harden skills in Houston and made Denver of all teams the #1 offense, resigned Jrue (best option in terms of familiarity, talent, and who we could sign), signed Rondo, and kept all of our future draft picks.
It's been a very successful offseason. We don't have to build a championship contending roster this year, but If we can just build on this offseasons success little by little we will have a winner.

right on the coaching. Lowe has been kind to Gentry in the past. but the challenge of this roster is a tough one. not sure there are many coaches who could figure it out
all of this.

this team is on a tightrope with out a safety net, and since they haven't done it before together or separately, fear that it is just as likely that they tumble off
all of this.

listen, i love the optimism here, and i sincerely hope it all works out. but those are some Pels tinted glasses you're wearing.

Yeah, I don't see how anyone is actually happy with the offsesason. This isn't terrible like having offers of future 1sts for Ryno and not taking them, but Finch might be the most helpful move to not falling off the tight rope. Unless Holiday blows up we're probably always going to play "what if they traded him when they could have and then replaced him with X?"
One thing I will say for Demps is that he has always managed to make chicken salad out of chicken shite at the trade deadline. QPon/Cole for garbage, Cousins for Buddy, he could have gotten a pick for Ryno, a guy everybody knew was going to get a contract that would make him untradeable in the future. On top of those moves he's usually brought in some DLeaguer that plays well enough to earn a spot in the league next year, BDJ/Frazier/Ennis/Cook.
I could easily see a QPon's corpse for Will Barton kind of move at the deadline that really helps the team separate from the pack. Would it be asking too much for Peter Jok to be ready to contribute by February? We may not have a better prospect for adding a pure shooter to the team.

Training camp rosters should be coming out soon huh?
Posted on 7/22/17 at 9:27 am to TheJruth
we already know who the guaranteed contracts are (assuming they gte cook and cut axel foley)
add young, Jok and jalen and I think that's your camp team
they don't have open roster spots and no easy way to clear dead weight so I'm not sure how anyone new makes the team

At least two guys who aren't signed right now will be on the team and in the rotation. At least 1, maybe 2 who are currently under contract will not be on the team.
A bevy of wing guys will get non-guaranteed contracts to come and try out, but I can't see any of them ever playing a significant minute this year unless a lot goes wrong.
I wouldn't spend to much time right now trying to figure out the roster and rotations. Can do that in October.

Any thoughts as to names for all this?

I'm sure it's fluid. Rondo wasn't plan A, B or C and that's what ended up happening. If the Asik situation takes until the end of August to resolve we'll probably be looking at option F then too.

Check twitter, it's clearly been reanimated. I think he plays for us and contributes before getting traded.

I say that bc we didn't take a ton of risks this offseason (other than resigning Jrue which I think would be more risky if we let him walk), we have a few more options that we did have in the past (but not much), and there's some real excitement surrounding this team (if not a little misplaced, but check out the action on this board and Pelicans Roost). It's more successful in comparison and in handling our past mistakes.
I try to be realistic about this team and I think I am most of the time, but if I generally lean any direction in life it's on the "glass half full side" lol

Damn "at least 2" makes me assume it could very well be more. Hard to see how we make that happen but I am very intrigued to say the least...which might have been your plan all along...you sneaky bastard

i hear you. i'm not trying to rain on the parade. i think the summer's been fine given where they are. still wish they would have held on to Casspi, but oh well
i think thats the point. they havent appeared to step on their own dick this summer. while it's a low bar to clear, they did clear it and that is certainly something to be thankful for.

Jesus
if the suns are able to dump Bledsoe AND chandler and get FN plus love plus picks their GM should be knighted by the queen.

This was tweeted yesterday. It has been speculated and assumed but here you go

That was them speculating and assuming. The Pels are not needed to facilitate this trade. Cavs/Knicks/Suns should be all they need assuming the Cavs are ok with Melo/Bledsoe as the bulk of the return on Kyrie.
