Hard to say when you play with Trey Young. He shows willingness on defense and displays effort. How effective that is depends on a lot of factors. Don’t think he’s ever going to be an A+ defender but if you put him in that Duncan Robinson spot where you surround him with strong teams defense, I’d say he can be competent and not a liability.
Pretty much this. He isn’t a guy you’re gonna put on an island to defend whoever the opponents best wing is, but he does play hard, and he’s smart. I think he’s got surprisingly good lateral quickness, good on rotations, etc.
He won’t ever win an All-NBA award for his defense, but he won’t be one of those guys talked about for his lack of defense.

NBA radio just said OKC is trying to trade up to #1 for Lamelo, and there are discussions of SGA being thrown out there.

I would go more:
Minn: Jrue, #25, 2022 LAC 1st (from OKC)
OKC: #1, James Johnson, Lonzo
Pels: CP3, SGA, 2023 OKC 1st
I wouldn't love it though, I would rather keep Jrue if we taking CP3, but I don't see a viable way of doing a trade like this without him

Man I just love Gallinari-he is a sniper and a player. I think CP3 & SGA are redundant 2 guards.
But SGA being young with Zion and BI could be dynamic and the timelines mesh.

My read (guess) on all the Jrue rumors is that it's a proxy war between Pels and Nets. Anything else is a sideshow.
I think this is mostly true, although I do believe Griff would be very interested in a trade like what Soggy just threw out getting CP3, SGA and a pick for Jrue and Lonzo.
Back to the Brooklyn proxy war though, it's laughable that they think they could get Harden for their mediocre assortment of assets. The reason they are in the lead on Jrue is because they're willing to give out the most B- and C level assets while teams are supposedly waiting to use the B+ and better assets for a Beal trade. Harden's better than Beal so the Nets wouldn't even be in the conversation if Harden were actually on the market, just like they wouldn't be in the Jrue conversation if players like MPJ were on the table.

You think the greatest point guard of this era and possibly of all time is a 2 guard?

I’m ready to be underwhelmed with this trade. It seams like only Pels people are confident in getting a top asset for Jrue. Everyone else think Gary Harris, Barton and a future pick is his value.

If you have 10 teams bidding at the C level but holding back B level bids, one of them is going to want Jrue more than the others and put in a higher bid at the end.
Look at the bad teams angling to make a jump. Phoenix is possibly getting Chris Paul. Minnesota wants to trade #1 for a win now player. New York might get Russel Westbrook. I don't think Houston blows it up and trades Harden now and Golden State should rise from the dead. Just making the playoffs in both conferences is probably going to be even harder. The FA market is crap, the draft is weak, somebody is going to realize that Jrue is their best option to advance in the arms race.

Would Minny have more interest in Jrue or SGA? I can’t imagine it being Jrue but if so SGA has to immediately be considered the best asset that could come back in a Jrue trade, right?

I agree, taking SGA makes more sense on many levels, but if they want the steadier veteran hand, I could see them valuing Jrue more. I think Griff would jump on that deal Soggy came up with if it's on the table.

just don’t like Paul’s salary and how if cuffs on other potential moves.

Jrue Holiday continues to generate significant league-wide interest, with several teams attempting to get into the top-ten to acquire a pick needed to deal for Holiday. Several team execs say the Nuggets, armed with young talent to trade, are a strong threat.

How would they get a top 10 pick? Trade MPJ somewhere else? Why don’t we want him?
Denver doesn’t have the assets ATL or Brooklyn have, as well as a few other teams.
Posted on 11/15/20 at 11:39 am to TeddyPadillac
Denver seems to be one of the most persistent names from National guys in these rumors but I just don’t get it.
If they aren’t trading MPJ I just don’t like anything they can put together unless multiple far future picks are involved.

Agreed. They just aren't in the conversation if MPJ isn't on the table. The In The NO podcast had a Denver blogger on, and she said the team values their own players so much she's not even sure they'd add someone like Monte Morris to the trade. She's just a blogger, so she could be wrong, but if that's the "media view" of Denver, why do they keep pumping them as a Jrue destination? Maybe Griff is the source of the Denver leaks.
