Absolutely. I’m not sure anyone can stop them outside of maybe Boston or Memphis.

The Pels were reportedly going hard after Fox before any serious mention of CJ and the Blazers came out. The problem is Sac didn't want our picks, they wanted Sabonis and Indy didn't want our picks, they wanted Haliburton. Which probably seems like the right choice in hindsight for both teams.
After several days of hot and heavy rumors of the Pels trying to work a 3 way with Sac and Indy the rumors start shifting to CJ. Why? Because the Pels chose CJ over Fox? No, because they didn't have what Indy wanted, which means they didn't have what Sac wanted, so they went to Plan B which was CJ.
I wanted Fox way more than CJ, so I was disappointed, but that's the way it went down. The narrative you're pushing so you can feel more justified bitching and moaning about the team is just wrong.
People have been doing the same thing with Beasley and Vanderbilt acting like the Pels chose not to outbid the Lakers. Utah was looking for a specific outcome which included dumping Conley for an expiring. The Lakers outbid the Pels because with Westbrook's contract the Lakers had what Utah was looking for and the Pels didn't.
A bunch of future picks with ambiguous value isn't the deal maker a lot of people seem to think it is. Even Ainge got turned down trying to give up 4 picks for 1 while he had his war chest. It happens.

IMO Clarke is a huge loss for them. He’s basically a Zion ‘lite’ and his athleticism and motor is a major weapon coming off the bench, particularly when paired with JJJ inside. They are much less dangerous without him.
