Between Love getting embarrassed on Vine by the Warriors and Blatt getting fired in Cleveland, I've seen several trades proposed for him recently including several that involve Love going to the Pelicans. How good of a match would he and AD be? If Cleveland is contemplating moving him because he can be played out of modern championship basketball, is he really a cornerstone next to AD? Or is Cleveland's problem they don't have an AD to make Love viable?

A) what would we have to give them that would help them?

B)that's a strange fit. I don't think it works.

Talk about logjam in the front court.

We're benching him or Asik?

If he takes Ryno+Asik's minutes we'll be even worse on defense than we already are.

In short, no thanks.

Looking at his DRtg and DBPM stats, he's a whole lot better than Ryno on defense. Maybe even defensive neutral vs. one of the bigger liabilities in the league. So it might not be as bad a match as it seems at 1st since Ryno and AD have been able to be a Net Positive most of their time together. It seems like Love and AD would be even more Net Positive if you get similar offensive production plus better rebounding plus neutral defense.

Love LINK
Ryno LINK

As far as what we'd have to trade to get him. Fisher from TBW proposed Jrue and Ryno straight up. I've seen/heard a few from national writers in the past few days but can't find them now. I'd assume it'd have to be something similar. If you want to keep Jrue maybe you have to use the 1st to package with Tyreke or Gordon to get something else the Cavs would want. I doubt Ryno + any of the guys we actually want to move get you Love.

I just don't like making Davis our defensive anchor in the paint for the majority of the game. It's fine in spurts, but I don't think it will work out that our starting center is not a good rim protector.

You also lose Holiday and don't get a pick for Ryno, so building the defense from the perimeter would be difficult and likely a multiyear project. But does having AD and Love make you a more attractive FA destination? Let's say you trade Jrue and Ryno for Love. Then you miss the playoffs because you don't have enough quality guards and are able to get a starting SG or SF out of the draft in 2016. If you don't pick up any long term money, then in 2017 you can replace Tyreke with a max guy like Westbrook. We see how unstoppable the Reke/AD PnRs with Ryno spacing are now, replace Reke with Westbrook and Ryno with Love and watch the defenses fold. Yes that doesn't address the defense, but what team outside of an Olympic team could boast a triumvirate as deadly on offense as AD/Westbrook/Love? Not even the Warriors can match that.

I agree the our offense would be unreal with that roster, but I feel like we'd be a team that score a lot of points, gives up a lot of points, and our bench would be d league quality.

We'd have 3 players taking up well over 50% of our cap space.

And you have two max players who play the same position. I think it only works if AD can develop into a full time C. I just don't see that happening.

Another factor on building the defense is that unlike last year, there aren't multiple top 10 defensive wing players like Stanley Johnson and Justise Winslow. I like Taurean Prince as a DeMare Carroll in the making, but if we trade Ryno for Love we won't have a mid to late 1st and will probably end up getting an offensively skewed guard. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but Westbrook/Hield/QPon/AD/Love would probably not be a top defense. They sure would be able to score though.

I mean if I know it's leading to Russ then yeah of course I do it. But that seems extremely unlikely.

I just don't like the idea of giving up Jrue at all, and the 1st round pick would hurt as well. I would do it for Star players that fit, but I'm not even sure Love is a Star let alone a fit. Love looks really poor in Cleveland.

i mean, you're talking about a former 26/13 player and a guy that has led the NBA in rebounds. This isnt exactly Ryan Anderson

The problem is that Love has basically become a glorified Ryan Anderson in Cleveland. Could we make some kind of swap between those two players where salaries would match? Love was playing really well before Kyrie came back. If we could land him, he is on a pretty reasonable contract for a "superstar" and it is for 5 years. That would make for one hell of a two-headed offensive monster in the front court. Granted, we would get annihilated at the rim on defense.

The OKC breakup may not even happen. But what's more likely to happen? Attracting a 3rd star player with 2 players the league considers stars already in place, or drafting the next Kawhi/Butler/George to pair with Jrue and AD? I think 2 stars attracting a 3rd is more likely than drafting a 1B guy in the next 2 years with a top 10 pick this year and top 20 pick next.

It really is hard to see a clear path to contention short of winning the lottery.

I dont think it's laughable. He plays the same position as Davis and the package to get him would be high. It's a fun question but I don't see it.

"How surprised were Cavs players today? When team meeting was called, some players speculated Kevin Love had been traded"

"David Blatt told friends in Israel last week, "It's either me or Kevin Love." Just surprised LeBron didn't decide sooner..."

Trade ideas: Fansided, but....

Trend is small ball mates - ad will be the "5" on any potential title team

Not nearly as high as 3 years ago. Cavs are not going to win a title and it's because they traded Wiggins for Love
