Grubb also went on some long Twitter rant saying he was going to end some guys life for not wearing a mask in a supermarket near his children.
Guy is a psycho. Like, literally. He’s been committed I think.

Yeah if you brought up any player wanting to play in New Orleans he basically said they’re just telling you what you want to hear.

And was dismissive of CJ saying this is where he wanted to be.
I think he did actually address that. Said something like, “you don’t think that he would’ve rather go play in Philly with Embiid?”

I’m Glad they gave Perkins the bidness. Whether you like those dudes or not, they were speaking facts and sticking up for our team to one of these assholes who are calling for relocation without any real knowledge of the situation.
They didn't really. What Grubb was saying was more annoying than Perk. I didn't think that was even possible.
Perk came off as uneducated but so did a bunch of people ranting.
Money asking him if he would relocate his wife had me rolling though.

That was exactly what I expected it to be .
Credit to Perk for being willing to have a “conversation” and take some heat .. If you pay attention to what he said he’s essentially for all of the losing franchising relocating . From a player perspective , which is how he sees it , playing in empty arenas sucks ...give another city a chance .
The fact the no one was willing to acknowledge the fact that players leaving NOLA is a problem allowed him to dig his heels in even more .
Grubb should have been muted from his first sentence .

Yeah the Grubb stuff and a couple others were bad. But the point a lot of people were trying to make that he wouldn’t listen to is that star players leaving teams isn’t a New Orleans problem. It happens to every team, especially small market ones. By his logic the league should contract to 5-7 teams and be done with it. He also tried to ignore the fact that any team that goes through multiple losing seasons has attendance issues. But I was exactly expecting we’ll thought out, nuanced takes.

Moscona went in on him pretty good today on local radio which was surprising because he dosent cover the pels much. Essentially called out his stance about how the saints rule over the pelicans and moscona pointed out that’s because they’re a winning team, San Francisco is all die hard niners fans but they’re all over the warriors the last 10 years because they win. Also brought up the 07 crescent city connection team and how into that team the city was. Called out espn for even allowing perk to have such an uneducated take
Hell I remember just a few years ago when we swept Portland and made it to the 2nd round I had buddy’s who have maybe watched 5 pels games their whole lives asking “where we watching game 1 at?”

Correct. that’s the question that was never clearly asked of him:
Is star players leaving a new orleans problem or a league problem ? We know the answer but would have been interesting to see if he would acknowledge it as a former player as Antonio Daniels did previously .
Perk was never going to back down from his point though .

This team has been here 20 years and never given the city a consistent winner. Just once, i'd love to see what would happen if this team had a 4 or 5 year run as a sold 3-5 seed type of team.
What would the fanbase look like if we got gifted what OKC was given? Durant/Westbrook/Harden, three MVP players right from the jump.
And what would they look like if they had our luck? 2 playoffs series wins in 20 years...

Just a solid 5 year run as an 7-8 seed would be enough. The franchise hasn't built on success(been as good or better when actually winning) since '07.

That’s absolutely been the biggest thing. Every time this team gets something good going they can’t sustain it.
In 2004-2005 they have the worst season in team history. They have Chris Paul fall into their lap in the draft. Everyone is excited. Then Katrina happens. Shinn flirts for two years with relocating to OKC and there’s a lot of bad will built up with the fan base (which really gets undersold how much it impacted the fan base).
The team moves back. Have an amazing season in 07-08. Everyone is excited. Follow that up with a slightly disappointing year that ends in a 50 point blowout versus Denver. Then Chandler is traded. The team gets purchased by the NBA. CP asks out. Back into the shitter.
Then Benson buys the team, we win the lottery, rebrand, draft AD. They trade for Anderson and Jrue and sign Tyreke. Everyone is excited. They even make the playoffs one year. Then that team is beset by injuries and Dell Demps thinking Asik, Solo, and Moore on long term deals is the answer. We suck again. But then they trade for Boogie. Win 7 out of 8 his second year and look like a force to be reckoned with…and he tears his Achilles. But we still go on a run and make the playoffs. Sweep the Blazers. City is pumped and the arena is packed. How do they follow that up? A losing year where AD asks out.
But they win the lottery again! And draft the next big thing. And draw 10,000 fans to a fricking open practice. Then everyone including Zion gets hurt, Adams and Bledsoe and SVG happen, Zion gets hurt again, and here we are.
People can never get fully invested because every time they do the team has face planted. They need to string together some consistency and the fans will show.

Absolutely agree. I get pissed off when I go to sports bars in Baton Rouge and have to ask them to put the pelicans on. It would be awesome for them to be on every tv in the bar. We never thought the saints would be a contender, I still believe
