The Pels drafted Karlo Matkovic in 2022 at number 52 overall and stash him overseas.
With way this team is playing and having so many young players, do you think he is still in our future plans?

He's going to have to make some huge strides for the team to call him over. He was nowhere near ready based on what we saw in the summer.

He’ll probably never come over unless he improves a ton

I thought we found a diamond in the rough when he was drafted. I guess it was just wishful thinking

A lot of times it doesn’t translate because when they have to do the same things against NBA athletes, they just can’t. His first 2 SL games this year he looked really lost in a way that makes me doubt he’ll make it. Prior to that I was as hopeful as anyone for him. He did get better after the first 2 games, but not enough to restore my expectations.

Remember Billy Hernangomez. He was an MVP in Europe but couldn’t make the regular rotation here because of defense.

If our plan is to immediately ship the player back overseas then they were never a diamond in the rough.

I think Griffins biggest hang up is trying to find and develop the “perfect” center instead of stacking rookies with upside until one is worth a shite.

We have 14 roster spots and Zeller with 1. If we replace that with 2 rookie centers then either 1 of them works out or you do it again next year and let them walk.

He was like the 52nd pick. Him not working out is the expectation. Who cares.

While I want to have a draft pick each year, it’s time to start using the picks to upgrade our roster. Instead of hoping to draft a Nick Richard’s or Day’ron Sharpe, just trade for that young more proven guy.

They aren't diamond mining, maybe more ruby or even amethyst. Karlo, EJ, Jemison, Liam Robbins, JRE are all scratch offs that they took flyers on hoping at least one can be a backup big. It's really not a bad strategy given the resources they had available.

I still want to see Jemison against real NBA players because what he's shown is a lot of what we need if he can do it at an NBA level. I also hope Robbins heals up, because he fits the Herb/Jose profile and if healthy could be more than we expected as well. But if none of those work out, they currently have 3 1sts in the next 2 drafts, and no longer have a strong need for wing depth or shooting.

Was looking up highlights of Robbins and came across this one where he pretty much abuses EJ Liddell.
