Pelicans and Bucks could finalize and announce the Jrue Holiday trade under the 2020 cap. However, then the Pelicans couldn't aggregate Bledsoe or Hill's contract in a second deal for a little bit.
That they haven't finalized tells me the Pelicans are working on a 3rd team.
Deal is not yet finalized

I believe that was from David Fisher from TBW. He's just speculating, but we haven't seen anything saying the deal is done yet, so why not wait another 12 hours?

I'm a little surprised that Griff would rather Bledsoe than Hill. Yeah I guess Bledsoe is the better player, but I just thought Hill was such a good fit. High character guy, vocal leader, low usage, great 3 point shooter.

I'd honestly be a little disappointed if either of them are packaged with one of our picks just to move up a little.
I know if we move up to 6 or so then it's because we think a guy is a homerun and I obviously hope he is, but I think this team can be pretty good this season with both of these guys.

That's really no surprise as he's the perfect guy for any contending team...honestly any team.

Griff about to swindle some more pick swaps baby! Pick swaps through 2030

The only problem with all of those teams is that they would all need to send back some level of salary to my knowledge, and its not like they are going to want to send back a player of Hill's equivalent.

Griff to other GMs: You know, we really thought George was the prize of the trade. Even moreso than Jrue. We think he brings a ton of leadership and intangibles to our young team....sooooo if you want him we'll take all of your future firsts and a couple pick swaps.

quote:It was clear Windhorst had no clue what he was talking about in regards to the Pelicans, on that podcast.
It's probably on his latest podcast, but I must have not been paying attention when he said that about Bledsoe and Hill. Windhorst's talked about the Pels situation like he didn't have current inside info, in fact at one point he said something along the lines of "Griff will tell me about that later" with regards to some details on the Jrue trade. So if he does think Griff likes Bledsoe it's based on things he said previously, not after he was traded to the Pels.
He was even implying Griffin settled for this deal because he wasn't getting good offers. Lowe was too nice to actually correct him, but you could definitely tell he thought the Pelicans did great in the deal.
At this point Windhorst's only function seems to be to watch Woj or Shams break news, then go on tv or record a podcast saying he had been hearing about that deal for weeks.

Could be traded into GSW's trade exception. Not sure what they could offer that would be worth anything though.

No thank you to the LA teams. They have nothing I want.
Boston has 1sts to give out that they don't want. While we don't need more 1st to make picks, we could use more 1sts to help improve our current 1sts. They would have a hard time making the salary work though, as i doubt they want to send out Theiss, and the only other salary that would work would be Smart, and they aren't sending him out.
GSW could take him into their TPE, and send us a future 1st.
Miami has #20, and i'd love to do a S&T of Meyers Leonard, giving Miami a TPE and us a stretch big and great locker room guy. Miami likes 2nd round picks. We can then use 13/20/24 to move up somewhere. I think you could get to Washington at 9, NYK probably aren't looking to trade down for more picks since they already have 8/23. Phoenix may look to get a PG to grow with CP3, so getting ahead of them if we want a PG, especially if Hayes falls to them, would be important.

Seems like the whole board has already written him off to me. But maybe that's just me.

If the money for #14 is included in the trade then it would work, but i'm not sure if that is taken into consideration or not. TradeNBA says Boston would still need to include $1.6M with Langford and Poirier.

I mean i wouldn't mind him, but the Clippers have zero first round picks to give out, and Shamet isn't all that great. All he does is shoot 3's. Literally 75% of his shots are threes, and he's only taking 8 shots a game in 27mpg. He's not a good defender either. George Hill is worth a good bit more than him, and the Clippers have nothing in terms of picks to add to the trade, or players i'd want, and screw LA teams.

Sounds a lot like Darius Miller. I also think fans have been way too quick to write Miller off because they'd rather cut him than over pay him again. But if it doesn't impact our ability to sign other players why should people care?
Unless they plan to use cap space on a FA, you might as well keep Miller again as a trade piece. He can be the shooting wing version of Okafor, minutes off the bench in about half the games where the matchup calls for extra shooting.
