I would advise you to wait until Dyson at least becomes an average offensive player before putting out crazy predictions like this.

Point taken. But, bottom line, I just have more confidence in DD becoming an average offensive player while being an outstanding defensive player...than I have in Trey becoming a well-rounded offensive player while, in my opinion, being an average, at best defensive player.

I obviously, intentionally jumped the gun a bit with DD struggling so much offensively early in his career...but it would just be too easy to wait until DD developes his offensive game (which I admit, MIGHT be my downfall in this discussion)...and THEN, come out and say he is a better player than Trey.

As usual, in my debates on a particular subject...it gets down to stats...and based on those stats, I see NO reason to believe Trey will develope into anything offensively, other than an EXCELLENT 3-pt shooter. Maybe he will prove me wrong...I hope he does.

For the Center question... makes sense to roll with JV/Nance/Zeller this year while going small-ball at times. Then, drafting and developing a good Center prospect makes sense, with the salary crunch coming with Trey Murphy's looming extension with Z/BI/CJ's deals.

Two good Centers in 2024 draft to watch for -- Donovan Clingan (UConn, Hawkins' former teammate) and Aday Mara (from Spain, going to UCLA). Both over 7', mobile with some decent weight strength already.

Drafting and developing multiple center prospects constantly makes sense**

We need to start doing what 29 other NBA teams do which is have at least 1-2 rookie/ undrafted centers on our roster every year until we find our guy.

Even right now we have 14 roster spots.

Sign Liam Robbins
Send Matkovich back for a year or 3
Sign another center on 2 way deal
Sign Landers Nolley II
Seabron on 2 way

We can activate Robbins or the 2 way center to give them both opportunities.

Trade Kira before the end of the season, give Seabron a cheap roster spot, add 2 more 2 way centers next year.

Agree...I can usually spout off something, whether right or wrong, about any subject...but to be honest, I just don't see a short term, viable "fix" for Center situation. Just gonna have to hope we get lucky & stumble into a miracle fix...and work with what we have...until then.

Has anybody been keeping up with how Daniels has looked for team Australia so far?

Shamit just tweeted that Thybulle is a starter, Exum will make the team, but Dyson isn't a lock to make the 12 man cut.

Not the end of the world as he's like 20 years old or something, but I'd imagine we all thought he was better than both of those dudes right now, but he does not appear to be.

Wow. That is not good at all.

I still think DD improves enough this year to get a solid 15-18 minutes a game. His defense is legit.

Not surprising. Thybulle has played for the aussie national team before so he's going to be a big part of that team.

Dyson is basically getting the rookie treatment.

I don't think you can come to that conclusion. There's a reason most coaches tend to favor mediocre vets over exciting young guys. Those reasons are even more at play with these international teams that come together so quickly without much practice.

If we thought he was going to be a star player it might say something, but for someone who's likely "only" going to be a good starter, I don't think it says much.

Any time he gets will only help his development, glad he is on the Aussie team.

Thybulle is basically a more experienced version of Dyson at this point. Not surprised he’s getting kept ahead of him

Exum isn’t better in a vacuum but they’re probably looking for a bit more offensive creation given the rest of their roster

Obviously not ideal if Dyson can’t make the squad but not panic-worthy imo

By the way...I wouldn't bet the farm on DD making the Australian FIBA team. After latest cuts...roster is sitting on 13 & gotta get down to 12. Hate it if he's the final cut...not much to watch this time of year...was lookin' forward to maybe watchin' DD in this FIBA stuff.

I just looked at the team (LINK I don't see why he shouldn't make it. There are a few guys I've never heard of that are much older and aren't on NBA rosters.

Are they really going to pick Chris Goulding or Xavier Cooks over him? I'd be really worried if they did..

I think Jack White was gonna be the last man cut...but then Landale turned ankle pretty badly in this latest game. Sounds like he's done so White will make the cut...and DD, although not exactly playing great offensively...will apparently be in, for sure.

I think Thybulle has finally turned the corner...and will take a serious leap offensively...this coming season. And, of course, his D is elite.

And I think, in 2 years, DD could be where Thybulle is at the moment...& be ready to make a leap up, with his overall game. Plus DD should have a MUCH better handle and be much more creative than Thybulle ever will be.

The Aussie coach in that press conference said that if Londale comes back, either Chris or Jack white would be the last man out. Sounds like there may have been a wee bit of negativity involved for Shamit to assume Dyson was potentially on the chopping board

All variables seem to point to Thybulle coming out of his shell this season. I'd luv to have him on Pels this season, if he does what I think he's about to do. Poor 76ers...just couldn't see it coming.
