I like Isaac b/c he can play switch everythign defense.
WCJ and Kessler cannot, and I know Willie and every other coach in the NBA wants to be able to switch everything and still play good perimeter defense. You just saw the DPOY make a fool of himself on the perimeter in the playoffs, while Al Horford is blocking 3 point attempts from guards.
As i said, i think it's more important to have a 5 that can play perimeter defense than protect the rim.

And i don't mind either of those guys as our 5 at the moment, but we would be playing a completely different defense when they are in the game from when they are out, and guys are having to learn two different ways of defending. Keep is simple stupid. Have one defensive scheme and teach good team defense. I think John Collins is a better fit at the 5 than Kessler, even though Kessler is obviously the better rim protector by a huge margin. What Collins does as a shooter and a perimeter defender is more important to me than what Kessler does as a drop coverage rim protector that can't shoot 3's or FT's.

Disappointed at how unprepared Griff seems to be. It is like he had no plan whatsoever and simply just winged it. He seems to had tunnel vision on Murray and did not even look at the entire roster construction.

I don’t want to defend the guy too much, but I will offer as an alternative theory that he saw two major holes and took the best opportunity available to fill at least one with a great option in Murray.

Now that arguably put him in a position where he was fully reliant on moving Ingram to fill the other hole, and bad luck in that market compounded the risk he took.

The argument you would get from many people is was it “bad luck” or not fully understanding the environment or market? Many analysts stated that they saw this coming with the new CBA.

The ideal 5 to me would be Jonathon Isaac.

Yeah, he's been at the top of my wish list for years. But he's barely more gettable than Jokic. The owner and Magic management love him. They turned down multiple offers when they didn't even know if he would play again. Now that he's close to his old form, he's basically untouchable.

Isaac is more of a 3/4 than a full time 5. He would be a nice get, but likely not available.

The rumor was we would attach a first to get Lauri.

That was the draft we traded down to bring in Jonas and then selected Trey. If we trade the pick then those acquisitions don’t happen.

No, the rumors were that we wanted Chicago to attach a 1st to Lauri in a trade for Lonzo at the deadline
