I just vividly remember during the times of the 2016 draft, this board:
Liked: Hield and Dunn a shite ton
Hated: Murray and Brown
Its just funny cus Murray and Brown are both 21 and already better than the other 2, who are both trash. You draft for ceiling and some people still don't understand that.

I remember most people hoping Dunn would fall, but being okay with Hield or Murray.
I don't remember Murray getting hate. I actually remember the board being pretty split between him and Hield.
I do remember everyone thinking Boston reached big time on Brown, even the draft talking heads on draft night.

Dunn was the guy I was really hoping for. Luckily we basically drafted Boogie so it's all good

Trolling PCT? You’d take Murray over a guy who’s proven it in the playoffs at the toughest position to find in basketball?
I take it you posted that not knowing shite about what Murray did this season. Brown is a stud...taking Murray over him isn't trolling. Preferring someone because they are in the playoffs this year seems more like trolling

Murray is absolutely the better player so far.
Posted on 5/16/18 at 8:50 pm to TPecoraro23
Dunn still has a chance
I think we’ve seen what buddy is (a good player, but still)
Boston properly valued the position brown plays and did it again with Tatum.
I think that the great likelihood that they were going to get another bite at the apple made the brown decision easier

Murray has better stats but I'd definitely prefer Brown. The 3 and D wing we've coveted forever.

For our team absolutely. He’s a better fit. 6’7 vs 6’4 and I actually think Murray is a little shorter than that.

Brown wasn't a reach like some people thought.
Ainge knew, wings were the utmost important position in the nba. Their versatility in this era is what makes champions and finding them is hard as it is.
Brown was extremely high upside with a low floor. That's all to it. Those other guys had higher floors but worse ceilings. Nobody expected brown to fall, it was always between Ingram and brown as to who'd be better of the 2...

I'd still take Murray. He would be shining in Boston too.
I would also take Jamal Murray right now.

well, you remember wrong---most here wanted Murray but understood why we took Hield.

I thought brown at #3 was a huge reach at the time. There were concerns about his shooting and maturity. Obviously, those concerns didn't hold much weight. He has shown time and time again that he is going to be a very solid player in the league.

Murray had a fine season, but certain people around here are acting like he’s an all star already. He’s an undersized SG and not a true PG. Taking that over a true 3 with crazy upside does seem like quite a poor choice. To each their own. I also love the “LOL you don’t even know who Jamal Murray is” argument. Also, really cute using Jaylen Brown’s playoff performance against him in the debate. Damn him for managing to elevate his game against better competition.

quote:This is a PISS-POOR comparison. The dudes are not the same in A LOT of ways. Jaylen Brown is a really good player imo. And you are an idiot for thinking Brown cant shoot. Dude is 39.5% from 3 this year... He does need to get better at the free throw line though.
Jaylen Brown needs to go back to school, and learn to shoot. He plays like Tyreke, and that is not the kind of starter that we need.

Edit: Jaylen Brown is dominating in the playoffs btw. Shooting 42% from 3. Comparing him to Tyreke still makes me laugh. Brown has been one of the better players on a team thats up 2-0 in the ECF.
To answer OP, Id probably take Brown, but Murray could end up being the better player. But we'll see. He's very young and has a solid arse game.

Lol at eric Gordon. And I say that being sour knowing he was awesome with the Clippers and is pretty damn good with Houston. He just didn't mesh with NOLA....

This is an old thread
Brown was not a good shooter in college
Shot 33% on jumpers as well as 3P as a rook
That said, the Celts knew what they were doing. He’s a very smart kid and a hard worker. To show such improvement so quickly speaks to the type of player he can be
