Winning created the culture. That beam gimmick would probably be a one and done mockery if they were 29-53.

Remember when Pierre would come out and bang the drum to get the crowd to chant "Won't Bow Down"?

Pepperidge Farms remembers.

The kings are exactly who the pelicans should be right now. Incredibly frustrating events that played out this season.

Have to order the Chinese take off. Original street clothes worn by the 22 year old player that has over $200 million already not affordable by most fans.

What else is there to do in Sacramento? The parallel here would be a street full of people doing the Who Dat chant as Saints win a playoff game. That happens. Kings have nothing really to compete with.

Also i'm suspecting the culture was already there and ready as they are only a Baton Rouge distance away from the Golden State Warriors. Fans just bandwagoned over to the local team when they won more games.

Sustained winning will have the blender lit.

Just look at the first half of the season, it was insane even on Sunday day games.

This is why I hate the "New Orleans is a basketball city" stuff on Twitter.

Yes, there is an actual basketball team in the city. That slogan is factually correct. But you're a basketball city when your stadium fills up even when you're losing. Of course it fills up when you're winning, so does every other arena. Granted, I don't blame fans for not going, but this team will always play second fiddle and not fill the arena unless they are doing good in the standings. It is what is is.

Also, the slogan should be Lock Your Doors.

Exactly. Every city supports winners, that’s not hard or unique and it’s not a culture.

True “die hard” cities mean fans are pissed when the seasons are bad, they are invested in the draft picks and coaching staff and the entire team and want to get back to winning. They show emotion.

It’s not apathy when things are bad and show up when they are good, which is where the Pels are at. Need sustained winning and buy in from the team and star players for the fans to get to that level.

Pelicans need a live mascot! Swoops around arena before game. Maybe you see him flying across state while fishing off Empire with his spray-painted tail.

Let’s be honest, if the Kings were bad nobody would care about the beam. It’s a good marketing thing but only looks good because the kings finally got good. If they sucked like normal nobody would give a shite

The lack of an entertainment district built into the New Orleans Centre footprint is sad. The creative/branding department for both teams is an abomination.

It ain’t the beam. They hired a morey disciple to run the show (McNair) and brought in a great coach in Brown.
