How good will they really be in 2025 with a 40 year old Lebron and a 33 year old Leonard who already needs load management at age 28?

Our pick in 2022 will be valuable no matter where it is bc of the double draft.

Look at the Heat and Durant Warriors. These FA super teams tend to have about a four year window. And this super team is much older and physically suspect than the Heat or Warriors.

Griffin did an excellent job of structuring the assets so that even if they sign kawhi I think the odds are pretty high that at least two of the three of picks/swap end up being valuable

But why do people think that this will happen? Really, Kawhi is still good enough that he will get a max deal a year or two from now. Even if he got hurt like KD just did, he'd still be able to get a 4-year max.

Remember when LeBron was just doing one-year deals? It's not in Kawhi's best interest to sign for more than two years anywhere, in case he doesn't like it and wants out. And he'll still make more money.

That's why I don't think it's going to be so terrible if he goes to the Lakers. By the time of the 2023, 2024, and 2025 drafts, he's unlikely to be around.

Heck, if there's one thing that this offseason is proving, it's that nothing stays the same for long. Too many players are always moving around.

The picks would be a lot more valuable if Kawhi goes somewhere other than the Lakers. Could the picks be good if he goes to LAL? Yes. Would it be better for Pels if he doesn’t go to LAL? ABSOLUTELY!

ETA fixed

Based on the way the Lakers are moving in free agency either they're being super arrogant again or they know Kawhi is locked up. They've made zero moves even if they wanted to spread the money alot of the good glue guys are off the board.

Team about to be Boogie Rondo Jr Smith Melo and bought out Iggy or something

Yeah, I think they feel pretty good about their chances.

To be fair, the Clippers and Raptors haven't made much in the way of moves either.

And of those, which one has the most holes to fill?

Each may end up missing out on a huge star if Kawhi walks but they already have their supporting casts fairly set.

Maybe, but I can see it working the opposite way as well- If the Lakers knew Kawhi was locked up, then shouldn't they be linked with guys right now who would sign to their exceptions? Second and third waves of players are starting to dry up quick. Either way, it is probably looking too much in to this situation, especially when you consider it's the Lakers' FO.

We will "know" before we know.

All 3 teams deals will start to leak that make it pretty apparent what way the wind is blowing.

At this point, though, I'm not sure that Kawhi knows. I feel sure that no one else does.

Kawhi to the Lakers seems as odd as Lebron James wanting to go to Utah.

i agree.

My take is kahwi is taking so long so as to assure lakers get no 2nd tier guys with the 32 million.

Else why not just sign with clips or toronto and be done with it?

Kawhi to the Lakers and Showtime. Best trio in NBA history will lock up couple championships rendering the AD trade for Hayes, tons of 2nd round pics and some young players that "might" make it to a higher level.
AD and the Lakers appear to win on that deal.
