Well that’s just not true.
He said they should be, which is true.
It isn’t true, which is the issue with a bunch of teams. You have an average one dimensional player and they get a max deal because the team is scared to lose them for nothing.

4/$160 would be a very tradeable contract. Takes away the risk of him being a rental and at $40M AAV, will look cheap with ‘25-‘26 being at $36M.
4/$180 is probably too big a risk of being stuck with Ingram for me.

If you saw the same rumor I saw, that’s what the Pels want, not what BI is willing to take. He has no reason to commit to a less than max deal.
I think BI’s camp is playing with fire. If he does not extend and Pels don’t get an offer they like, Ingram could end up playing less than Trey and/or coming off the bench. His stats will be down and if he picks up a serious injury that max is toast.

I take him at 4/160 with how the cap is rising.

It also means his trade value is toast as well.

I didn’t even think of that possibility of telling him take the extension or come off the bench.
That would be cold blooded, but frick it

He’d be expiring in that scenario because his trade value is currently toast, so that’s fine.

Contract based on how many 3s and layups he makes.

Is it? One of our best assets will walk for nothing. I mean then just take the lesser offers now.

Why would you move CJ? IMO he has been more valuable to this team than ingram
Posted on 7/6/24 at 4:49 pm to matty3387
Because he is terrible in playoff basketball games. Also, small, aging guard. And if we are playing small ball w no center, idk if he can be a heavy part of that rotation.

Will he stop smoking weed at halftime?
Posted on 7/6/24 at 4:59 pm to PrayingMantis
So who paid for letting him play. Willie? This organization is poorly ran then, do you agree. We were hot as hell going into playoffs without BI on floor.

Dont want ingram under any circumstance. Trade for a 2nd for all i care

If they don’t trade him this weekend then look for them to sign him to an extension soon. I believe once he signs an extension he can’t be traded for 6 months which takes you to the trade deadline. Trading him then without an extension will net you nothing of value. The longer this lingers the less value they will get out of him

I absolutely do not want to extend Ingram. I understand why, but I HATE it for this team. Going into the season with Ingram on the roster and no starting center is a failure by Griff and his team.

A player should be an all-NBA/all-star every season to be making $45-$50 million.
Naw. The math doesn't work.
With how much salary the league has to spend, and max salaries limiting actual market values, you're not only going to be paying 5-10 guys that salary (given there are only 15 all-NBA slots and your requirement is "every" year)

Unless the players in the league hate him, that would paint us with a Scarlet letter for sure. Players/agents don't play like that.
*ETA: I will agree he is taking a risk, b/c any injury or failure to adapt further may set him off as a UFA in an NBA that is changing how they view max deals. He may not get an offer of 4/160 next year.

But is it a starting level center and upgrade over JV? The whole point of not resigning JV is to technically get a better fit or upgrade. I don’t know if they’re going to be able to do that now.
