Exactly..
I try to send Hill and Moore for him for 2 reasons
1) Whiteside when motivated could be a great player, however if he isnt then reason #2 is you turned 20 million in expirings into 27 million, that you can then trade off for the next guy that gets fed up and asks out (looking at you PG), or someone that unexpectedly comes on the trade block (Embiid, Blake Griffin)

Right idea but I doubt Embiid becomes available and I wouldn’t want Blake even if we had a way to cryogenically preserve him during the season.
Blake is so fragile at this point that having him is a high risk given his contract.

Starting a team with Ayton/Bagley/Luka would be amazing
Ranking all 6 by what I think their potential is:
Zion
Ja
Luka
Ayton
Barrett
Bagley
And this might be a bit of a hot take but I think Morant has a decent shot at being better than Zion.

What if the top 2 picks are Cleveland and Atlanta? In that case Ja is probably going 3.
And you really are undervaluing the price for Davis.

Apparently so.
I see the cousins year with pels and now buddy balling out and Harry Giles improving during rookie year.
I wouldn't do it if I were the buying team. Not for one season.
I will sit out this discussion until the draft is done.

There's always teams that are willing to take a risk when a top 5 player is being shopped. Yeah it might go sideways (Boogie). Or for the team that trades for AD (If he leaves them after a year). But that's always a hindsight thing. In the moment you always have to strike because that move while possibly being disaster, is also the move that can turn your team into a championship contender.
Small moves = small changes in the future. Big moves = big changes. And if your organization isn't confident in it's ability to make a player wanna stay with them, that's an organization that you don't wanna be a part of.
The teams that never take chances end up in that middle area of teams that are just destined to be subpar or mediocre for 20 years.

I am done arguing with the people who say, "Only for one year..."
Any team that trades for AD believes that they will have him for the next 6-10. Good organizations bet on themselves. They won't even entertain the notion he will be gone in a year when making their offer. Now, they might try to sell Griffin on that as part of negotiations, but he won't go for it.

if you can trade for Davis (or cousins, or kawhi etc) you do it

Davis is opting out and testing FA. That is a huge certainty. He is not signing an extension. If he is hurt, he will just pick up the last year option. He has said this over and over, and every major star in the NBA is doing the same thing.
I'm sure every team would like a year to sell him and believe they can get him to stay in FA. But the whole schtick on here about him accepting an extension here or elsewhere is just a pipe dream. It is going to devalue him somewhat and that is below the outrageous packages people have been posting for months. But we are getting something solid in return..

He played 75 games this season averaging 35 minutes a game..
Add Aaron Nelson and reduce his minutes in the regular season some, give a night off here and there, and I wouldnt be concerned

How many playoff games was he available for?

Wed Have Zion, so without a doubt i would rather the celtics offer. And Yes id take the suns pick where Cleveland would very possibly pass on Ja, at least we would hope. Then you have Zion and Ja as your potential SUPERSTAR cornerstones, a potential all star reserve glue guy in Tatum, and a high end role player in Smart with 3 quality picks to use in building around them. I cant think of a more perfect scenario then that. The Pelicans would immediately have one of the brightest futures and the highest ceiling of any team in the league.
