re: If healthy: What do you do with CJ, Boston, Hawkins, and Alvarado?

Jose’s issue is his size. Not only in game deciding situations and playoffs, but also along side some of our other possible guards. Playing Boston as a pseudo backup PG allows a lot more flexibility with shooters like CJ and Hawkins because of his size.
PG- Murray/ Boston
SG- Herb/ CJ
SF- BI/ Green
PF- Zion/ Trey
C- Missi/ Theis (would love to improve backup 5)
If we are serious about winning, we are playing a center and not Hawkins. Hawkins’ defense has been a liability and his shooting efficiency isn’t good enough to make up for it. By no means am I out on him, but healthy and trying to win tomorrow, he’s not in.

Theis will be a healthy scratch until traded to bring us below the luxury tax. He becomes trade eligible Dec. 15th.

I want to see him with Murray, herb, Ingram, and Murphy/zion on the floor.
The switchable nature might allow us to hide him while absolutely being a flame thrower shooting as the 4th option.
I know limited blah blah, but agreed on Boston being the better 3rd/4th guard option than hawk or alvarado. He is combining their strengths - solid defense and solid offense. Idk if it's just luck right now is my concern

He was 50/40/90 before his back started becoming an issue.

It will be interesting to see if we sign Brandon Boston to a regular contract. Two-way players can only play in 50 games in a season. Once others get healthy, we might just start holding him out of some games to delay that decision, but that decision will ultimately impact our tax issues.

delay that decision
And here is the gripe with the organization

They will not sign him until they get under the tax after a trade. It is literally the only reason they got rid of Matt Ryan- there was no need to cut him other than the tax.

Boston has earned more mins even when others are healthy.

Only difference for Pels is that Boston is actually playing. Keep waiting and he’s going to want more than minimum salary.

It seems like players will be coming back soon. His minutes will likely substantially decrease. This is a guy who was out of the league- hes not going to make salary demands. He’ll be a 2 way guy probably until after the deadline.

Boston is the de facto backup point so he’ll get 15-20 minutes when team is healthy. He’s putting out good film.

If we’re fully healthy how is he getting 15-20 minutes?? Just break it down- Dejounte, Herb, CJ, Trey, BI, Hawkins and even Jose. I love everything about Boston but he might get some DNPs if everyone is healthy. If hes in the rotation maybe 10 minutes but I feel that could be a lot.

I don't think he's a point.

He’s a combo guard, but for the Pels he’lll get his minutes at point. His size and ability to handle defensive pressure getting into sets make him de facto.

I’m sorry he has completely struggled doing this since Jose has gone out. Hes actually much better off ball.

Yeah, we could play Boston some at point if Zion is on the floor, because Zion can do so much ballhandling, but Boston won't otherwise play point on a healthy team. At 6'7", he's certainly big enough to guard opposing wings, so I could see him on the floor with Jose and Hawk.

The rotations are going to be tough this year if they all get healthy. You have to imagine they will always have 3 of Murray, CJ, Herb, Trey, BI, and Z on the floor at all times.

See that's what I'd rather not happen. Zion and BI shouldn't see point duties again. They can be primary ballhandlers at times but too many turnovers.

He's a point like Ron Harper from the Bulls. Not flashy but doesn't turn the ball over.
