Yea man if he can stay healthy he will be a PROBLEM on a nightly basis such as Kobe, Durant, Shaq were all nightmares for opposition. he doesnt even need to develop a solid jumper for him to be an MVP candidate which is crazy if you look at where the game is headed.

ehhh probably. At least it would make his case and journey towards getting mvp a lot easy.

Did Giannis need a jumper to win mvp?

Giannis can handle the ball way better and rebound better. I don't think it's fair to compare the two, very different games.

The question wasn't about ball handling or rebounding. It was about having a jumper.

And since Zion doesn't have the same handles as Giannis, he needs one to ascend to that next level into the MVP-stratosphere.

Good news is that he showed he can hit the set shot and isn't afraid to take it when it there, which means he has a good foundation. Once he shows the threat of being able to knockdown the jumper and force defenders to come out and guard him, it's over.

Nothing you’ve said has convinced me that Zion needs to have a jumper to be an mvp candidate. He’s dominating the league without one, despite being much lower than he will eventually be on touches.

Thankfully, I don't have to convince you.

true
but he needs to improve in some areas to win it.

obvious: tip top shape, which could be enough.
that would give him the defense we saw at Duke. rising up to block a jumper.

work with a Globetrotter on his handles.

the set shot is going to be blocked by all the top defenders if and when pels get into playoffs. its too slow. he needs to learn an additional shooting form.

ft form can be improved.

he is formidable because hes huge.

if he is 100% fit that will put him in the mvp discussion because defense will be better.

he might win one without ever learning to shoot but he wont be head and shoulders to repeat unless he improves in.basketball skills. thats because guys like curry and harden and kd can get 40 every time they feel good.

i expect him to report fit for next season.

You're right, Zion doesn't need to have a jumper to be a MVP candidate but he needs to have a jumper to win rings...

ingram and jrue can carry him.

so to speak.

and the 3 #1s the next two years.

ft form will be as or more important. he and zo are down at hack a shaq/wilt level.
wilt cost himself a couple east championships vs russell. game on line. clank bounce bounce. aaoooh.

zion. 64.9% ft.
better than wilt.
not the man you want at the line though.

All Zion's mates (Griffin, Coach K, Nelson, Melli today) say Zion is fit...

Zion just has a special metabolism and genetics which allows him to gain muscle and weight very quickly

Nevertheless it can be useful to put his 3 pt shoots when he's wide open and have a fadeaway jumpshot (cause he likes to post-up his defender).

My guy, you’re moving the goalposts everywhere.

First he needs a jumper to be an mvp candidate, next he needs handles.

Zion is in the mvp conversation if he plays 75 games next year and nothing else changes other than his experience levels.
