How will point Zion affect Lonzo’s situation and the PG position in general.

Will Zion be the de-facto PG now like LeBron and Ben Simmons? Would that make the need for a true starting PG like Ball unnecessary? I know Zion and Zo are friends but I’m sure Zo would rather be in a position that has him as the primary ball handler.

Well we see him in different ways then and that’s fine. I see Lonzo as a pass first PG who initiates the offense.

So does Lavar Ball, but I'm not sure that anyone else does now. Lonzo doesn't do a great job of initiating the offense in the half-court, though he is a great initiator in transition. In the half-court, though, he's a SG, and that's the position he's been playing when he's on the court with Kira or NAW.

I can see that argument. That would boast well in the Pelicans favor if Zo was ok with being a PG/SG tweener. NBA is following the NFL in that it’s fast becoming a position-less game.

The pels see Lonzo as a transition pg where he pushes the ball ahead when the opportunity is there but in the half court they use Zo as a spacer with Zion or BI starting the play.

That's why we have a certain price range in our head for Zo.

He isn’t one though.

To go back to your original question, though, Point Zion helps Lonzo. That's because Point Zion generates lots of open catch-and-shoot opportunities for Lonzo, and Lonzo knocks down a lot of those 3s.

Point Zion is a significant part of the reason that Lonzo's 3pt percentage has gone way up in the 2nd half of the season. Point Zion is making Lonzo $$$$.

The hell are you talking about? He doesn’t initiate the offense. He is a great passer and great at pushing the ball in transition, but in half court he’s a spot up shooting SG.

Except he absolutely demands to initiate the offense very frequently.

Almost every second or third possession Lonzo is signaling or looking to put the ball in his hands after a defensive rebound and then jogging it up the court if it is not a transition oppurtunity.

Which I have always found to be a lot of wasted calories on our offense since, like clockwork, it basically just consists of Lonzo dribbling up to the arc and then passing to either side and standing around.

I would much rather see basically anyone perform that function, but so far Lonzo hasn't either been asked to or wanted to give it up. So it will be interesting to see what the usage rate looks like with Zion when Lonzo comes back.

Somehow get rid of lonzo, land brogdon and you fix the issues we're dealing with honestly.

Someone who can shoot efficiently
Someone who can defend decently
Someone who can run a half court offense and transition

He isn't elite on any one category, but he's above average in most

Uhhh, I don’t think that’s true at all outside of maybe LBs and safety’s.

LB’s, S, corners that can play S, S that can play nickel. TE that can play WR, RB that can play out wide as WR. Hell we have a QB that can play any position but OL.

I don't even know that Lonzo does. Moreso than ever, we see that Lavar doesn't speak for Lonzo, so anything Lavar says comes with a heaping helping of salt. Nothing has come from Lonzo to indicate he is unhappy in this offense.

If Lonzo wants to be the primary PG he should leave

His future here is secondary ball handler, hitting 3s and playing defense.
