We'd have a shite load of money, that means near max deal for Marc Gasol

Collison
MT5
Pondexter
West/Brackins
Gasol

That's a really solid lineup without the return we would get from the trade.

Definitely. I'd love for Dell to make it happen.

I'd pray we use that money to pay for a growing team smartly as we develop the young guys, like OKC did.

they hit on 3 lotto picks, 1 of which became the 2nd or 3rd best player in the NBA

the hornets likely won't have that option or luck

OKC actually has quality ownership

why did they go cheap this offseason?

they had the cap room to sign amare or boozer to complete their roster

For all of our ownership's woes, we've hit on 3 picks recently as well, CP3/MT5/DC.

I feel like Pondexter and Brackins are going to be solid also. At the least they will be solid role players that could start when needed.

I really think if we offered a max deal we could get him. I don't see a lot of people having the money or wanting to do it. I also don't see Memphis making that kind of move after the deal they just gave Gay. They have been cheap in the past and I can't see them giving out max deals in back to back years. I see it as a decent business move as legit 7'1 young healthy centers are not typically available.

Also Okafor's contract sucks, but he is still a decent player. Another team might not see it as a horrible move to overpay for Okafor if they get Paul. He is still a very capable starter in certain systems.

Paul/Roy/Aldridge/Okafor

or

Paul/Amare/Okafor

are not bad situations at all for Portland and the Knicks.

They had to save money to make sure they can keep their nucleus in tact. They took care of Durant with a max expansion, but they have to put down 10 million next off-season to pick up the team options on Westbrook and Harden, then 6 million to be able to match whatever decently sized deal Jeff Green might get from elsewhere. There's a reason why they wanted MoPete's expiring. They are likely going to resign all of their young guys this coming off-season, then look to add experienced players off of the bench and a decent, good sized center. Bosh and Shaq are the only guys I think they should have targeted, but blowing the bank to keep Bosh may have put a big hurt on keeping the nucleus together. Just wouldn't make much sense to do that.

That is actually kind of dumb if OKC wants to win. They should have used their cap space to sign a big time free agent to add to the nucleus. They should have bird rights on all those players you mentioned in the nucleus. That means they could extend their contracts even if they are then already over the cap.

The only reason not to do that is because they are being cheap or..............

They offer Marc Gasol a max deal and bring him to OKC.

PG- Westbrook(21 years old)
SG- Harden(20 years old)
SF- Durant(21 years old)
PF- Green(23 years old)
C- Gasol(25 years old)

They could just pick up the options on their nucleus and add Gasol with a big deal.

I really want the Hornets to be able to go after Gasol though.

They would, but with the luxury tax, they would be spending an insane amount of money 4 or 5 years from now.

I just don't know that it was feasible.
