West will opt out next year, so we may as well keep his contract.

Posey, though? Add him in because he's getting about $7 million a season through the end of 2011-2012.

West has a really friendly contract.

If we're lucky, we could use West to move Posey for an expiring.

his contract expires after this year. It would be almost pointless to trade him instead of Okafor.

Peja's contract is an asset right now, not a burden.

Not going to get crap back for Paul if we include every bad contract we have in the deal.

Okafor absolutely should be in though.

I'm not referring to West's contract.....I'd like to use him for bargaining power, because he actually has trade value

As I said in the other thread, IF we dealt with the Knicks and got Curry back, between West, Peja, Curry, and Songaila, we would have about 39 million in expirings alone.

We would also have some good young players going into the uncertainty that will be the new CBA.

The good news is that it clears the decks long-term.

The bad news is that the only people willing to take money from us to sign as FAs are washed-up guys like Peja.

I'd pray we use that money to pay for a growing team smartly as we develop the young guys, like OKC did.

+1

OKC actually has quality ownership......the problem lies with our owner. We won't do anything significant until he sells the franchise to Chouest
