Is this a semantics thing? I get your point but CJ is our #1 Veteran leader and planned to be our starting PG (primary ball handler.

quote:But that's not how the arguments go.
So when you say “well CJ still did this better than this player” it doesn’t fricking mean shite if he still played bad or made mistakes.
For example: Damn CJ really killed us down that stretch and missed 4 shots. “Well this player missed 6 shots when CJ passed it to him”
Well did that player also cause CJ to frick up 4 times himself??? Because I don’t care if our scrub player missed 6 shots. I do care if CJ (our highest paid player) completely ruins several possessions.
The arguments are actually, "Damn, CJ ALWAYS kills us with turnovers every single game." Then I reply and point out that CJ had 8 assists and 1 turnover that game and is best at protecting the ball compared to all our main ball handlers. What you said is correct in a general sense, that's just never how the argument goes when I'm involved. It goes more like I just said above, and that is why it's maddening.
There's been multiple games where I've pointed out how he had 1 or 2 turnovers and 4 or 5 guys make 10-15 posts about how shitty he is with the ball in games where Zion and BI have 3+ turnovers each. I'm fairly confident you know what I'm talking about because you've been one of the 4 or 5 guys that were doing that in the past.

Yeah i don’t think it’s because of turnovers but the flow of the offense isn’t very good when CJ has the ball in his hands as a primary playmaker

And in your previous post you said this
quote:
Only 1 player on our team is the veteran leader. Only 1 player is trusted to be our primary ball handler.
That's not semantics, you're acting like CJ is the only vet and only trusted primary ball handler.

The 1 dude said almost word for word that we can't possibly win more than 5 of our final 20 games, then called me all kinds of names for interpreting that as stating, well, exactly what he said that we can't possibly win more than 5 of our final 20 games lol. Then argued it was semantics because it meant the exact same thing as him saying he thought we'd only win about 5 of our final 20 games.

We got some homework to do on the term "semantics" around Pels Talk.

We are fricked if Dyson is running point for us next year. Like shooting for the most ping pong balls fricked.
Before his injury, Dyson was making a meteoric rise. If Dyson’s trajectory resembles what it did before the injury, he will be our 1.

CJ is not a good fit for this team period. CJ is a decent player, don't get me wrong but I think they can do without him.

That's right. We have plenty of 3 level scorers that can create their own shot and shoot 38% from 3 with volume attempts.

Meteoric rise...holy hyperbole, batman.
Just looked at his splits. I suggest you do the same and report back.

He never should've been the primary ball handler.

Dyson has some things to figure out on offense still, and I don't think he'll be ready to start next year. But I'd never expect him to have flashy stats. I think his stat line would look a lot like Josh Hart's his last season here where he started. 13/8/4 Maybe a few less points and rebounds and a few more assists.

With all the skill and basketball IQ conversations, which Dyson has plenty of, folks continue to underestimate the physical and conditioning aspect of the NBA game. Dyson just really needs a good off-season conditioning program. He'll finish better and be more confident. One of the quietest kept secrets in the NBA is that Steph Curry, for all his 3-point barrages and highlights, is the best-conditioned athlete in the league.

Do you mean strength? Dyson definitely needs to get stronger but I don't think his conditioning is an issue. Not like he looks tired out there.
Dyson just finishes weak. Lonzo and Austin Rivers do too.
He avoids contact. So instead of jumping into a defender and finishing strong, he throws awkward floaters or flips at the rim.
He's physical on D so I don't think he's scared of physicality per se.
I like his shooting form on 3s too. I think he just needs reps and not to be worried about making a mistake.

I include strength as a part of conditioning. I look for little tells like how often a player hits the deck, and Dyson is on the floor a lot. I loved watching Jrue (who Dyson reminds me of on the defensive end) as he almost never hit the ground despite guarding players 15-25lb above his weight.
No doubt Dyson is tenacious, so not worried on that end, but he needs to work on his core and lower body to finish and hold his position better. His offensive game is suspect right now largely due to the tentativeness and lack of ability to finish (he gets to the rim). He arguably is the Pels most instinctive passer, but again being tentative, depresses that skill.

I too hate an efficient 17 points.

I too always like to post that a guy is "TERRIBLE" while he's in the midst of an 21 point half.
