What?

I tend to agree with you on the non-toxic point of view. I don’t think those guys embraced the city or opportunity but there were far from cancers.
We don’t attract FA bc it’s NOLA. Griffin is not without fault for some moves he’s made but this city/franchise has attracted 1-2 noteworthy FA in nearly 20 years . The market itself is not viewed positively amongst players and on top of that we’ve never accomplished anything.
It doesn’t help that our own players don’t exactly help campaign for the market/city etc like we’ve seen from the saints . But again, they’ve never won anything .
You have to improve via the draft , trades, and signing middle tier FA that play above their pay grade .

Yea I actually like our off-season so far when viewed in isolation, but there is a try and try again quality to the moves we’ve made so far which isn’t awesome.
2019 we added a big to protect Zion and 3 pt shooting in Favors and Reddick. I liked the moves when they happened.
2020 we tried Adams and Bledsoe and it was a flop. I was actually excited to have Adams so shows what I know.
Now we trying JV and Graham. It really, really needs to work this time. I think it will and Pelicans will be a decent 5-7 seed this year assuming the pieces stay relatively healthy. And if Zion/Ingram are at the head of a competitive western conference playoff team next year I do think there will be a chance in 2022 to add an actual big piece.

This is such a ridiculous justification of the team’s failure to make any moves. And the big flaw in your theory is that it’s been made very clear through multiple reports that Zion wants help and we did NOTHING to fill that need, if this is Griffin’s “strategy” he’s a moron because Zion wants us to make a splash or he’ll be out and we’ll be left with nothing again

None of these guys were “toxic”.
We’ve been on this “culture” crusade for 3 years and everyone still hates it here and we can’t attract anyone from the outside to come here on their own accord. This suggests that the problem is at the top within our front office, not with the actual players
This is really true. I always think it’s ridiculous to assume that players who want out are toxic. No big organization wants people to hate the company. You even want people you fire to feel good about the organization. Market is something you can’t control, but when players are so disgruntled that they don’t even try, it’s on the organization.

So what splash move should we have made?
We can't force players to come here.
Pay Kyle Lowry $35 million? Yeah, that sounds smart.
Is signing Normal Powell a "splash"?
Is overpaying Ball a splash?
And if Zion and his family are too stupid to see that, so be it.

Powell would've been a nice splash.
Think everyone just wanted another starter/semi-starter.
Thing is most players are going to re-sign with their original team.
I'd like to know if the pels passed on any trades.

That was the point of my post. I said the counter point is the toxic players we’ve shed are all guys brought in by this front office. We’re not disagreeing. At a certain point the addition by subtraction argument loses any validity when you are subtracting your own additions.

Shedding players that don't fit Zion's game for pieces that compliment Zion's game is doing nothing. Noted.

Graham is a starter / semi starter. Christ.

yeah that's the irony, as pointed out a few times in this thread. the "toxic" guys are guys...Griffin brought in

pels
apparent peers in the 6 to 10 group.
mavs
griz
gsw waiting on klay
and one random top 4 with an injured star who came back 100% two weeks now.

Internal growth and an attitude refresh are worth at least a 10-game swing imo.
Then your opinion is shite.
Brooklyn didn’t have any intERnAl gROwth and plenty of bad attitudes and barring injuries would’ve ran away with the title.
You people don’t want a winning team. You want a lovable loser and that’s part of the reason we’re the worst fan base in America. Such strong opinions without having a clue of what you’re actually talking about.
Shut the frick up with this stupid shite everyday.

So your plan is to sign a top 5 FA another top 20 FA and then trade for a top 10 player.
Ok.

No. But we already have a player that can be top 5 in the league next year.

Yes. We need another player. The biggest bargaining chips we had to get that player were Lonzo Ball & our 1st rd picks. We traded them for dogshit. Graham, Temple & the rest of the BS we got this off season won’t be enticing to any team with a disgruntled star looking to jump ship next season. Lonzo Ball (on a deal that will look great in a few years) and the first we traded would have been. But since you all don’t like Lonzo (even though he never said anything bad about the city, team or his role) & wanted him out regardless if he helped us improve either on the court (because he’s improved every year) or through trade, you don’t care or are too ignorant to see.

What were we going to trade Lonzo Ball and a lottery protected first for? Please enlighten us with the options that we had on the table.

There is the disconnect. There is a nice thread about the myth of Lonzo's improvement on the first page.

Man shut the frick up. I said a star on a losing team that’s looking to rebuild. Pick one. Pick the one that’s on the worst team, that’s requesting a trade the loudest, & who’s FO has some interest in a 6’6 starting PG who’s improved every year, doesn’t miss games & is happy to be in a new situation.
But if you’re asking me to name a player so you can disagree in a condescending, patronizing manor, please do me a favor & take a deep breath of fresh water.

And I’m not reading it. I know Lonzo Ball’s game before he got to NO & where it is now. If you can’t see that he improved as a player I have absolutely nothing to talk to you about.
