Yup he is crushing it. He's said it's about the pelicans, how we/he failed, how we apply the lessons to the pelicans.

He even says he failed. For him to have to do this is stupid

Yep. And it took 5 questions for them to finally ask about the Pels.

At the end of the episode Ramona Shelburne said Griff didn't say "I'm sorry"

He should have said “I’m sorry you are a dumb count, Ramona.”

And how much of that is LeBron’s influence locking the team in on guys like JR Smith and Tristan Thompson at inflated contracts?

In Kyrie’s case, he had problems with LeBron and wanted out. The problem with trading him from what I saw is that LeBron’s refusal to commit meant that they went with a centerpiece that would help the team after he left (Nets pick) as opposed to someone like Paul George who would walk if LeBron didn’t stay.

This is the problem with LeBron... he demands that a team be constructed a certain way, that all his buddies get big contracts, then when things look like they will get tough he starts looking for the exit.

Same kind of bullshite I knock Chris Paul and AD for over the years, as New Orleans made a lot of moves at their urging that backfired horribly and/or sabotaged the team’s long-term viability to make them happy.

You want to play shadow GM? Then you either take blame when your requested moves fail or you stay and play through it. Claiming that someone didn’t support you enough and then looking for the door doesn’t make you smart or a leader, it makes you an a-hole.

They had the ability to get both Paul George and Eric Bledsoe when LeBron was in Cleveland, but Griff didn't pull the trigger because LeBron wouldn't commit.

They were probably pretty upset because Griff basically told them that they were proving his point by blowing up what was like 2 lines from a huge article, because those two lines pertained to LeBron. He said that he could've said the same thing about any other player and there wouldn't have been a mention of it in the media, but because it was LeBron, Griff now has to go on TV and explain the article to the media.

In AD’s case, he insisted he didn’t want to play center which got Dell to bring in guys like Asik and Ajinca, traditional centers.

We started seeing far more success once we started putting stretch 4s / sharpshooting 5s like Cousins, Niko, Randle, etc next to him instead of giant stiffs expected to play the defense that AD didn’t want to at the rim.

It's about leadership and culture. Griffin has been very very very smart and careful to paint the right picture in all of his public remarks.

And he seems to be backing it up with the hires they are making and org structure they are building.

The Win Now stuff is an interesting comp to Demps. Both had to deal MVP caliber player for assets and both lucked into consensus #1 picks shortly after those deals.

Demps quickly handcuffed himself (perhaps by owner mandate) to his roster; Griffin has tons of flexibility to reshape the roster for the foreseeable future.
