He probably knows the same as you about politics … frankly more because of who he is.
What makes you so well placed that you think your opinions on politics are better than someone else’s?

England, as someone who had a ten-year career in politics, let me say that, here, everyone thinks their political opinions are better than everyone else's. Humility on the topic is non-existent.
All you need to do is go to the Political Board on this site to find supreme confidence in total idiocy.

Is it a controversial statement to say that a former NBA player and current coach would know more about basketball than politics?

No and you’re quite right… but it’s a leading statement basically saying he shouldn’t have a political opinion and certainly shouldn’t be spouting it out…a ’keep it to yourself’ kind of post…

Anyway… back on topic
Quite excited by the appointment and hopefully works out.
Could be a master stroke or beginning of another f’ing rebuild =|

I don't claim to know anything about politics. I just think a man that has spent his whole life playing basketball probably knows more about basketball than he does politics.
You realize I was responding to someone who was discrediting Kerr's basketball opinion based on his political views, right?

No, that wasn't at all what I was doing. I couldn't care less about his political affiliation. I was just telling a likely Trump supporter that you shouldn't view one's perceived poor political beliefs as a reflection of one's basketball IQ

It was a joke
Kerr is 54-83 the last two seasons. Funny what happens when the talent isn’t available. I just want to be careful assigning credit to coaches who have access to all time roster

The fact Griffin hired him inspires zero confidence.
So if he would have hired your preferred coach, it would have inspired zero confidence? Was it a surprise to you that the GM did the hiring? Because you're basically saying no matter who was hired, you would have zero confidence.

Kerr found a way to miss the playoffs with Curry going absolutely fricking nuts this year...he is a Superteam coach, no more, no less.

Nonsense.
Kerr took a middling playoff team and turned them into one of the greatest offenses of all time. Completely changing the way the game is played and what teams prioritize in building rosters. And that was before Durant’s arrival.
There is not a coach that has ever worked in the modern era that didn’t need talent. People that try to use that as a knock are showing their arse. What Kerr and Nick Nurse’s experience last year, Pop since losing Kawhi, SHOULD be teaching people is that there is no coach that can overcome talent deficits and/or extenuating circumstances. And when you have either or both of those problems, jumping to blaming coaches is putting the cart before the horse.

There is video on Twitter of Monty apparently announcing to the team that Green got the job...can't hear the words but you see them all giving him hugs and clapping for him. Booker made some comments this morning about him as well at the presser.
