If we're going to make threads about him being worthless, I'm going to be that guy tonight.

29pts
7ast
4rebs
12/17 fga
4/6 3pa
1 turnover

And his usual elite defense.

Jrue I Pelieve in you son. Great game.

We've all been frustrated with his play because he's capable of nights like this

You mean 10 years of decent play is more telling than 2 bad games? Who knew !

I knew Jrue had it in him. He needs to continue to play like this and this team can go somewhere. AD/DC will continue to get theirs. Jrue has to get his as well.

People are retarded. He has a sample size of being good for like 500+ games and people acted like he had become a 7ppg guy because he had a poor game or two

He was great tonight. But let's not discount that he wasn't very good in the 2nd half last year either. If not for Nelson becoming available, the Pelicans very likely would've been 0-5 coming into tonight. That's not what I expect from a player who just signed for $126 million. Hopefully tonight is a sign of things to come. If so, this team will be very fun to watch this year.

If Jrue plays like this then we are unstoppable.

If he averages this the rest of the season, I'd dare say we got ourselves a bargain.

He was also signed with the idea that he would be a combo guard with Rondo for the majority of the time

Jrue isn't a floor general point guard, he is a very good secondary handler and scorer when playing the 2 role

He legitimately played like an all-star tonight.

With that said, what has always been the issue with Jrue(at least for me) is consistency and identity.

Games like this are great, but what I want to see is consistency in the next 5 games. Not just one great performance every sixth game. He doesn't have to score 29, but 18-20 on efficient shooting, not taking off on defense for large stretches or entire games, and not making bonehead plays or turning the ball over at a high rate.

We are trending in the right direction though so I am hopeful. And hopefully a night this is a confidence booster for Jrue.

Here to eat crow. I started a thread questioning his value. But like others said, I expected more. He’s delivered that and some. I was pro jrue for a long time and lost sight of what he could add to a winning team. If he brings a semblance of the game he’s played since the second half of the Kings game, the pels will go places. I’m starvibg for crow jrue! Feed me!

His consistency can be questioned every since he returned last year from his wife stuff. Before that, he had been consistent for us

The guy is human - his wife had a brain tumor, he had a newborn little girl, and he has to leave them bc he felt he had an obligation to his team. I’m just not sure his head was in it last year.

He’s a guy we need to support at the arena (no booing shite) bc he is an integral part of this squad. You can tell he’s emotional kinda guy. One, our shitty front office executed the trade to bring him here, which in turn forced us pay him big money when he came up for FA. We couldn’t spend $25 mil elsewhere. Any anger towards Jrue needs to be directed to our FO bc they botched that situation from the get go

I would disagree with that.

Jrue's problem since coming into this league has been his Jekyll/Hyde playing style. We are in his 9th season and still trying to nail down his player identity.

As to his consistency, he has never developed into that guy you can count on to be efficient and a positive force game to game. Or at least shed the feeling of uncertainty from game to game. He will have a game like today and than follow it up with a performance where he will go 5-19 and 2 assists. One night he will look like an efficient facilitator and the next look like Jamal Crawford before he was kicked out of the league. Than follow it up with an efficient modest scoring effort but look hesitant running the offense. Than have a great shooting night but turn the ball over 6 times including in a clutch situation. Lock down the best point guard one night and the next look like he is taking the day off and making bonehead mistakes and falling apart with team defense.

I will praise him for this effort, but what I want to see is another 5 games where he doesn't turn the ball over at critical times, maintains a pretty respectable level of scoring efficiency, and develops a strong identity we can rely on within this team structure. If we can get that player out of Jrue this team can go far.

i agree on the consistency part. he's not as bad as he looked early, he also isnt this good. he hit his shots tonight. that wont always happen. frick Holiday threads will be back as soon as he misses.

he did look much more comfortable and decisive than we've seen him. some of that is the Cavs weak defense, some of that is Holiday understanding his role better. this is going to take time- he's always been a ball dominant player. now he's not. that's a huge adjustment.

And just like that Jrue is back to around his career averages in terms of PPG and FG%.

on most of his drives last nite there was no attempt at resistance. you could tell on the first few he was still hesitating waiting for the close down that never came. going forward I would be happy with him just being aggressive...passivity and indecisive play are what makes him go from a winning player to a negative

maybe it's a confidence thing but I can't imagine a team being more supportive of him

remember his first game back last year, home against the blazers.
pels were scuffling along and the blazers are always tough to beat.
holiday came out and carried the team to a win...i was as surprised as I've ever been watching this team

there's about a 2 week stretch there where he was legitimately an all star player.
then...poof

criticism of holiday is grounded in on the court evidence that he can be a difference maker and the fact that we absolutely cannot win big without him
