In the last 5 games, which we are 1-4 during, Gordon has shot 24-60 (not terrible) with 2 rbs, 3 asts, and almost 3 TOs a game.

If that is "great" then I have a hard time figuring out how this dude got a max deal

He's been playing better, but he still needs to finish better. Maybe with more talent around him his numbers will be better, but he certainly hasn't done anything this year to show he's worth a max contract

I don't see this at all. At first he wasn't right, but he's looked great over the recent stretch of games. His dunk against Brooklyn was very explosive and he had a play a game or so ago where he went out on a fast break and blew by 3 defenders to draw a foul. His outside shooting still isn't what it should be but he doesn't seem to have any knee-related issues right now.

As someone who likes Gordon you will see the positives. The posters on here who dislike him will only focus on the negatives. I personally think he is getting better and since he has been back he has only missed two games that were not predetermined. I hope the Hornets don't trade him because the reward of a healthy Gordon outweighs the risk. A injured Gordon is = to using his cap space to sign average to slightly above average players because they both get you to the same place which is no where near the finals. Posters on here like to act like the Hornets are a free agent destination but what star have we ever signed. We had to overpay for James Posey!

I guess I was saying great in comparison to how he started the year. He certainly isn't max contract great but I think he can return to that after this off-season, provided he has no more setbacks.

Like, why is Gordon so loved on this board by certain posters?

What has he done for you? When, outside of one half of a season when he lucky enough to not be hurt for a few weeks in a row with the Clippers with him being the only legit shooter on the roster has he ever even put up above average stats in the NBA?

Is it the fact that he's a total a-hole with shitty body language? Or that he lacks any personality? Or is it the being totally mediocre after forcing the franchise's hand in giving him a contract he doesn't deserve? Or fighting with the coach on the bench? Or being constantly hurt and never coming to his team's games or showing any support for his teammates? Or turning the ball over and bricking shots in the 4th game after game after game?

What makes everyone so pumped about this dude? At this point, to me at least, some of you valiant defenders of Gordon just look totally delusional to me.

When healthy, he can score from just about any spot on the floor and attacks the rim and his defender relentlessly. He's probably one of the best guard perimeter defenders in the entire league, even on a bad knee. The positives with having a healthy Gordon outweigh what would come if we just dumped him this offseason for bad value. We're far away from being contenders. We can afford to take a risk with Gordon because he can be far better than anything we could possibly trade for this off-season.

more than anything, i just want him to get healthy and see what he can do with a full, healthy season. let him go away during the offseason, continue to strengthen his leg, not play much over the summer, and come back healthy and ready to play 72-82 games next season.

He doesn't have the makeup to be a franchise leader. The longer he's around the longer it takes for us to truly move forward as a team.

Since when did EG become Kobe Bryant? He is an average outside shooter and is not particularly efficient. He can get his own shot at the rim but settles for jumpers way too much.

And this is just absurd.

I just don't get how they are so optosmistic about the whole thing.

They've been talking him up from day 1. If he stays he needs his ego stroked, if he goes he needs to be sold to other teams.

He is from Indiana, which explains the boring personality. He's lucky he was on the Clippers and not the other LA team where he would have been ripped to pieces.

Basically people won't let all the "potential top 3 SG" talk that he had two years ago die. It's obvious he's not going to come close to that to anyone who's not kidding themselves.

You don't have to be Kobe Bryant to be able to score from anywhere on the court. He's got a good enough outside shot to where defenses have to respect it, and that allows him to use his quickness to get to the rim, where he's a very good finisher. I'll give you that he settles for jumpers a lot, but he can still put up 20 a night doing that. That's very valuable.

Call it absurd if you want. I'm not saying he's Wade or CP3, but he's a damn good defender. Hell, I remember him keeping Harden in check pretty well this year. Harden scored almost all of his points when he was guarded by the likes of Austin Rivers and Roger Mason.

How is it considered kidding myself to think he can still be an elite SG? He improved every year in LA and looked to be on the same track until his knee injury with us. He hasn't had anything seriously wrong with anything else except that knee and he's been rehabbing enough to where he should be fine by next season.

You act like this can be ignored

He's played less than half a season worth of games in 2 years with us and you act like its a minor setback

Should is the key word there. We also thought that he should be fine this year

Link? Of course it sucks that he's missed so many games, but it's not like it's a chronic issue or multiple injuries. It was one injury that seems to be finally cleared up.

I tell you what, if he's still having his knee issues 2 years after the injury happened, then I'll lead the trade Gordon group myself.
