He just said what he wants. Don't play dumb. He also doesn't have to hate NOLA to want out, if he's got a huge bone cone for Phoenix then whatever his feelings on New Orleans might be rendered irrelevant.

Phoenix really doesn't have jackshit to offer us in a S&T.
Again, Gortat is a 15/10 guy on 55% shooting, making $14m TOTAL over the next two seasons. That's a pretty nice piece, and he doesn't have that many miles on him after backing up Howard for several years. It won't happen given that apparently no one wants to fricking play here, but having him instead of Gordon would easily give us enough money for 2 max players next season.

Who's got pieces to where we wouldn't get arse raped in a trade?
We have 4 years to figure that out if he really doesn't want to be here. If he intentionally tanks until he can leave then he is a sorry piece of shite, but he doesn't seem like that kind of guy. He never complained once when the Clippers were at the bottom of the West every year.

if we sign him, can we still trade him or no? if we sign and trade i want gortat and 3 first round picks.

Did anyone other RFA release a prepared statement saying their heart is with the team who offered them?
Like other have said, there was no reason to say anything. Especially not anything about his heart being in Phoenix, if the intent was to eventually come back to NOLA

If we sign him then we can eventually trade him just like any other player. No reason to rush and S&T him with Phoenix.

So you want a potential malcontent with all of our young players?

E-fricking-xactly
the dude would be the dumbest motherfricker in the world to turn it down. If he signs the 5 million dollar offer sheet I'd love to see him go Brandon Roy out of stupidity alone.

I've said from the beginning he didn't want to be in New Orleans. The quicker we get rid of him the better the franchise will be. He was problem child for Monty all season long behind the scenes. His attitude sucks and he is a premadonna. Can't wait for him to get the fck out of our city

he can't if/when he signs the PHX deal. that was just a formality to make him a RFA

That's already been posted and called out for its absurdity. That + a large expiring is the kind of deal that gets a Dwight Howard, especially considering that it would leave them with basically Gordon (who IS injury prone), a mixture of OK players and scrubs, and first rounders every other year until 2018.

Here's the deal:
He agreed to sign the sheet. He didn't sign it.
Once he signs it, we have 3 days to match. If we do, we have him at their deal (max), he can NEVER be traded by us to Phoenix, and can veto a trade in his first year (and his last year for completely different reasons). He can get traded to someone who can send him to Phoenix, I think, but that's pretty risky on his part.
He could sign the QO, as noted above, and just force his way out at risk.
If he just signs with us without signing their sheet, I THINK we can do a sign-and trade. We can also do a sign-then-trade to give time for Phoenix to build a deal for us.
If his heart is in Phoenix, then we need to renounce him and just get under the cap, or he WON'T sign the deal.
I think.
Thoughts?

is Gordon mentally challenged? Phoenix doesnt have shite. They won't compete for a championship in quite some time from now. The Hornets are an up-an-coming team. He has his boy AFA on the team as well. I just dont see why he would pick Phoenix over us. Not making sense.

Or he can have another mysterious "knee" injury that takes over a month just to get diagnosed, then miss over half the season, spend most of that time away from the team and then just show up in a couple of home games at the end of the season to show he still has some game... But that
probably couldn't happen again, right?

What reason does he have to do this? Did Monty frick his sister or something? He doesn't have that kind of personality.

I think him missing a lot of games was part of Project Tank
Posted on 7/3/12 at 10:22 pm to NIH
I'm pretty sure this surprised everyone, especially those people who thought he was headed to Indiana.
Anyway, I actually feel a lot better with Demps and Williams in charge than I would otherwise. They'll handle it. Who the frick knows? Everything may have been a smokescreen and they were planning for this all along.

The last thing the Hornets need right now on this wave of goodwill is a turd in the punchbowl, and right now, based on his prepared statement, EG is trying really hard to pinch a loaf here.
He's not worth it, IMO.
