Give Griff credit - consolidating talent and getting rid of Willie's crutches

Ten-man depth doesn't help in the playoffs. The right move is to consolidate the top six or seven players with better talent, which Griff is doing.
More importantly, he's dealt two of Willie's biggest crutches (Nance/Naji) and the third (BI) is likely headed out soon.
Hopefully, Borrego will be able to run his offense now without BI pouting and bogging it down.
I would love to get Kessler and another big (no idea who).
My two big concerns right now are obviously C and then toughness.
We lots two of our toughest players in Val and Naji. Still have Jose and added a dog in Murray. Dealing soft-arse BI is a net positive in that regard, but I think we need at least one more guy with some grit.

Can someone explain the Naji hate?

He's not a top tier/create your own shot scorer so people hate him. They also claim on here that he goes "Naji Jordan" - but I didn't see that at all last year.
He was an awesome role player for us and wish hed be back especially with Dyson gone. He could guard 1-4, good passer, good at attacking rim, could hit 3's, the only one on the team other than Jose who would seem to give a shite on certain nights.
He'll be missed.

People are still mad when he was a little bit of a ball hog in summer league like 3 years ago.

I don't hate Naji. But Willie insisted on giving him heavy minutes instead of developing Hawk, Dyson even more knowing we would likely lose him anyway for nothing.
And that's exactly what happened.

Hawkins played in 67 games, averaging 17mpg.
Trey played in 62 games, averaging 14mpg his rookie year.
Tyrese Maxey got 11 DNP's his rookie year, and averaged 15mpg.
But sure, Willie didn't give Hawkins enough playing time to develop.

It's as if y'all are incapable of remembering the whole season. Dyson was hurt to end the season. Before he got hurt he was playing over Naji. He had played in all 52 games before he got hurt, averaging 22mpg. Naji was playing 18mpg during that time. and Hawkins was playing 20mpg during those first 52 games, with only 4 DNPs
stop with this stupid narrative that Willie prefers Naji, who is the best player of the 3, and Hawkins didn't develop. Hawkins had a typical rookie season for a good role playing rookie.

It’s really inexplicable. People seemingly expected star level play from a solid role player.

Think people want to see Hawkins (and at the time Dyson) play more. Not really anything to do with Naji.
He seemed like a big bro to Jose and was our top enforcer. He’ll be missed. Our toughest guy currently has to climb up on scorers tables to throw punches. Could use one more.
