IF we end up picking at or around 7, it looks like this could be the type of decision we’ll have to make. Who would you choose? I haven’t seen Garland play, but from what I hear he seems to be more of a pure ball handler with maybe a slightly better shot where White is bigger, fast and does a lot of his best work driving but can still shoot.

I think for me it would be Garland bc Jrue already does the majority of his work in the lane, but I’d be happy with either.

I would never make the pick with our current roster in mind. That is the top mistake decision makers make every year. The truth is that these guys won't really help you win until year 4 or 5, so why consider your current roster and fit when history says that almost every player on your current roster will be gone by then?

With that said, today I lean White but I expect to go back and forth every day. But one of these guys will go 4 or 5, so if the Pels don't pick until 7, they won't have the choice between the two. At best, they can take whoever is left over. I lean White because I think he will be able to defend multiple positions. I also think he can be a slightly better playmaker. With Garland, I see a ceiling of Kemba. A flat out scorer who can pass a bit, but really can't guard either position. Which would be awesome, but has its limitations, especially on winning teams. White's ceiling to me is maybe a bigger Chauncey Billups. Can create, can shoot, can defend, can play on ball or off.

I would lean White as of today, but I am curious to see Garland at the combine

ding ding ding

depending on what happens with Davis, you might want to move that pick. or Davis situation may lead to them dealing Holiday too.

there's literally nothing for Pels fans to talk about right now in terms of roster construction because we know nothing. it's all bullshite. all we can do is hope that Griffin and his team have multiple ideas and strategies for all the different outcomes they could see.

You’re right it’s early in terms as for this team but that’s a tough question. I like both of them a lot and would like either one. However, I really like Garland because he can shoot so well. However, White is so good too. Gun to my head.... Garland.

Is Payton going to stay? If so, PG might not be the biggest need and I like Payton..

Need really doesn’t factor much into it.

You’re picking this guy for several years down the road. The Nba draft is such an absurd crapshoot, much more so than the NFL, that you just pick the guy that’s going to be the best player.

You certainly don’t worry about Elfrid Payton.

Basketball draft isn’t like football.

You take BPA regardless of who is on your team at a certain position.

I was just curious if Payton is going to stay. But need and positional fit does and should matter. I get drafting BPA, if he is obviously better and you have no pressing needs. Otherwise, you are like the Sixers and draft a Center in the lottery 3 years in a row cause he was the BPA..

You just proved the point. It worked out. They finally got Embiid.

If they thought like you they wouldn’t have drafted him. Or possibly even Simmons because he’s a “PF”.

Just draft the best guy barring something nuts.

I still say whether Payton stays or not we need more talent at every position. We’ve been trading our draft picks for high salary players that we never build a bench with talent (always one year min vets). We need to build and acquire some talent through the draft if they only develop into role players.

I say draft DeAndre Hunter, we haven't had a real 3 on this team since Jamaal Mashburn.

Great point.

Even if it makes sense, the Pels should never trade a pick again because Demps used to trade them regularly.

Does anyone see Prime Baron Davis with Coby White?

Is DeAndre Hunter a real 3? I was thinking he’s more of an undersized PF with good skills. He just doesn’t get me excited. White and Garland both seem to have more future-star potential which is why I prefer them.

I also kinda like the Kevin Porter kid from USC. We haven’t had a pure scorer in a while and they always have value in today’s NBA. Anyone know much about him?

1) Too early to think draft until we trade AD and have the lottery.
2) Best to take BPA, regardless of position. Especially in today’s NBA where anyone over 6’9” isn’t really necessary.
3) I see a couple of mock drafts having us take Jaxson Hayes.

No. Baron was a different level of athletic and his ball handling was elite. Floor won't ever have a nasty handle and he is athletic but he isn't that top level.

Chauncey coming out of Colorado is the best comp I got

Hunter was actually a PG out of HS. But he has grown and matured to a wing player. He is a solid 2 way player, that has all the same measurables as Kawhi Leonard. Should be a solid pro. I don't think he falls to 7-8 though. None of the players we covet will. Got to hope for top 4 or look to trade back..

Being a PG in high school means absolutely nothing. Hunter will be a very solid role player on any team, but in my opinion, I don’t think his ceiling is that high
He has a very high floor, but he struggled to handle the ball at the college level, he plays like a prototypical 3 and D, but nothing more

If I covet 9 players, how is it possible that none of them will fall to 7 or 8?
