NEW ORLEANS PELICANS:

quote:

New Orleans had their chances to put the Pacers away but failed to come up with the clutch plays down the stretch and let one slip through their fingers. The Pelicans dropped to 4-3 on the season but that is good enough for the top spot in the Southwest Division in the early going. New Orleans trailed by two after the opening quarter, at the half and after three quarters before getting things going in the fourth quarter. The Pelicans led by 10 with 2:22 to play and still held a six-point lead with 21 seconds left in regulation only to end up in overtime. In the extra session, New Orleans gave up the winning bucket with 1.7 seconds to play to end up with the loss. The Pelicans shot 43.6 percent from the field, including nine of 27 from three-point range, and won the rebounding battle 57-42 as they ended up on the short end. Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 31 points and eight assists though he was just 12 of 31 from the floor in the game.

OKC THUNDER:

quote:

Oklahoma City was walloped by Miami on the road Monday night in their most recent game to lose for the fourth time in the last five games. The Thunder dropped to 2-4 on the year and are tied for third, which is also last, in the Northwest Division entering this one. Oklahoma City hung tough for about two and a half quarters before getting clobbered in the back half of the third quarter. The Thunder was tied after the opening quarter and trailed by 14 at the half before cutting the deficit to 67-63 with 7:44 to play in the third quarter. Oklahoma City was outscored 24-3 the rest of the stanza to trail 91-66 and never made a charge in the fourth quarter to go down in flames. The Thunder shot 36.7 percent from the field, including 13 of 48 from three-point range, and allowed Miami to shoot 56.8 percent in the game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 18 points in the loss.

I hope it stuck with the players as well. This is where Zion and BI need to respond. A dominant win will ease the pain of that last L.

How you respond to defeat speaks volumes imo. Let's fricking win sons.

Heard on Hester and Hanny that only 3 teams in 8400 games lost with a 6 points lead and 21 seconds left. Of coarse if you watched the game both JJ and Ball were fouled to get that chance at the 3 to tie.
99% of the time you get foul shots there so that’s what it took to be that 3rd team.

Just to clarify, it was 6 or more points.

Still stinks, but it wasn't 8000 wins when leading by exactly 6, so it's a tad skewed.

But nonetheless, that still means only 2 teams in the past 10 years have lost when leading by 6(assuming both were down 6) so it's still not good.

But figured I'd clarify.
