Well deserved. Congratulations!

lexander-Walker averaged a career-high 20.8 points, 3.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds to go with 1.3 steals. He also averaged career highs in blocks, field goal percentage and 3-point field goal percentage. The 6-foot-5 guard increased his scoring by 11.4 points after averaging 9.4 points coming off the bench for the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2024-25 season. That is the third-highest increase from one season to the next over the past 25 years.

"It really validates my feelings," said the Hawks guard, who looked like he was holding back tears at times while talking to reporters on Friday. "Sometimes I think everyone's been through that where they feel something and other people might not, and they might not see it yet. And it's kind of like that told you moment to not make you feel crazy. And a lot of times this game has made me feel delusional and just the beliefs that I had ... honestly, it [hasn't] set in. I go from moments of where I'm ready to break down in tears and then I'm just ready to just scream and just be happy."
quote:
Alexander-Walker now has some hardware to add to a family that includes cousin Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City's MVP and Finals MVP. "It's good to make the family proud," Alexander-Walker said. "When you're Shai's cousin, a lot of times you get referred to as Shai's cousin. And so now being recognized for being Nickeil Alexander-Walker feels great. I talk to Shai all the time... [he's] my brother and my twin, and I couldn't be any more proud for anyone's success. So to know that he's in my corner and rooting for me the same way... all of those things really resonate." Alexander-Walker follows teammate Dyson Daniels, who won the award last season. This is the first time in the award's history that two straight winners have come from the same team.
quote:
"I think it was the opportunity that I was given and the mindset of just I have to make the most of it," Alexander-Walker said. "Through different times of my career, when you get something like this, you got to grab it by the horns and just take it for the ride and just wherever it goes, I was hanging on for dear life, still am and still will be."

2 former Pels with back to back MIPs lol. Good for NAW though.

Sounds like they just needed coaching to develop.

We’re a Hawks development squad only going to get worse when they get a top 3 pick from us.

Will probably end up getting another top ten pick from us next year thanks to the Dyson trade….

So let me get the correct.
The 17th pick of the 2019 draft class (NAW) has won an Annual League-Issued Award and has participated in the playoffs five times.
The 8th pick of the 2019 draft class (JAX) has won the NBA Cup and has participated in the playoffs three times.
- and -
The 1st pick of the 2019 draft class (the Generational Talent) is empty-handed and still developing his game. Got it!!

This board wasn't great before but man it sucks now
Every topic has the same 4-5 people using the same tired shtick over and over
Congrats to NAW. He is a useful player now, and it only took five years and four teams. Im sure thats all the Pelicans fault.

Meanwhile, Pelican fans are still waiting for HIM (genuflecting) to become a useful player, and we are only going into his eighth year but who's counting? Of course, that must be the Pelicans' fault, too, huh? SMH

I do not get the effort of trying tie NAW to the Pelicans like we screwed that up. NAW is on his 4th team in 7 seasons. He is a great story, but has nothing to do with the Pelicans except we drafted him.

So playing 3 seasons here does not constitute him a Pelican? The more you know

How many seasons do you need to be a official Pelicans player?
Nothing to do with Pelicans? Yeah okay
How many teams did Bey play for? .

It’s a board about a bottom 5 franchise in professional sports that makes retarded moves. What exactly are you hoping to get from it’s posters

I consider NAW former Pelican. I do not consider trading NAW as one of the failures of the front office. People are acting like he was playing like he is now or saw it coming as a Pelican.
I am very happy for NAW and I am a fan. I am glad he was a Pelican by I would not really know about him if he wasn't.
Think about all the bone head decisions the front office has made, trade NAW at that time was not one of them.

Agree . Griff. Thought he would have better opportunities elsewhere. Seems like everyone is happy to leave the Pelicans.

I beg to differ.
To put it all into context, the year we traded NAW and JHart to the 'Blazers for CJ and LNJ do you recall what the Pelicans were attempting to address? Put succinctly, they were in the market for a point guard. They offered the 'moon' to Kyle Lowery and tried to acquire Chris Paul but got rebuffed by both.
So, in order to address the PG vacuum, they traded away two young players (who both professed their desires to stay in New Orleans) for a 30-year-old shooting guard (Damian Lillard ran point for Portland) and an undersized, always injured, 29-year-old center, Larry Nance Jr. Then, they ordained CJ as our point guard
To further muddy the situation...
Please note that at the time, they had just dumped Lonzo (Satoransky and Temple), Kira was busting, and they had just sent draft capital to Charlotte for Davonte Graham.
So forgive me, if I disagree with you.

It’s frustrating watching the shite moves this franchise makes over and over. Then get to sit home and watch our entire former backcourt in the playoffs go up in a series they have no business winning while we hear talk of a Zion extension….

This post is unfortunately very true. CJ was one of the worst moves we ever made, this organization simply could not give us a competent PG.

Why are you more upset at the board and its good posters vs the sad state of the franchise and Gayle?

Im fine with negativity.. they earned it.
But every thread eventually turns into the same 3 or 4 guys (who are probably all the same guy) posting the same shite over and over again like they're getting paid for it
