Yes, this was a for real segment on First Take today for about 10 minutes.

Seven games into his career.

I saw someone joking about this on Twitter and I thought it had to be a joke so checked the ESPN app...and yeah it was real. I can't believe this is where we are, it is so damn ridiculous.

FWIW...the 30 seconds they let Matt Barnes speak he basically said what a ridiculous topic this is, that he certainly could, but we need to give Zion 3-4 years to develop, but he is way ahead of where Giannis was at the same age.

Sadly clock was ticking the day we drafted him. Hell Giannis could lose in the finals and the media would be shouting for him to leave.

And of course, they mentioned that we have about 5 years to win a championship, gleefully.

I'm surprised they gave us that long.

Sewing the seeds for his (in their minds) eventual trade demand.

Guarantee you that as soon as Lebron retires (If AD is still in LA) the "rumor" mill will crank up about Zion being unhappy and LA being the most logical place for him to land.

They will, will it to happen, or try at least.

Zion and BI have to be considered one of the best young duos if not the best.

Just to be fair...it was a mostly complimentary segment.

Max said yes, in theory we can. Screamin A said he had no idea and had his doubts and just wanted to see.

Barnes was even handed and complimentary.

As many fans, and pundits, and experts, and laymen have all raved and hypothesized that Zion will be the next coming of the greatest thing; I would say, then, he has as much chance or better of winning a championship, especially with the Pelicans FO and BI. Just like Michael, Lebron, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, KJ, Steph, and many others who have won a title, I think he has a better chance than most to win a ring (multiple even).

But many like AI, Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Ewing, CP3, Melo, and on and on and on have not won a ring.

Unless Zion signs with Klutch, I see him winning many.

This sounds too nice.

You sure it wasn't "Can ZION win a championship in New Orleans.....

Or will he just have to wait until 2026 to team up with AD in LA?"

the worst part was them with the topic of "do you pair Zion with a big or a wing"? They all reply with a wing, which is correct. No one brought up Ingram, the all star already paired with him. Stephen A was saying he could be a 1a/1b type of situation for a championship contender. Yea, no shite, we have that foundation already in place.

You wanna know why the NFL is what it is? The Saints have the same shot as anyone else. You can build long term success in NOLA and the media doesn't call for good players to leave the Saints. I hate that about professional basketball. Like damn give the Pels a change to build something before you start clamoring for Zion to LA smh.

Syracuse minnesota and rochester had teams that were well supported and syracuse won nba during russell cousy. Minnesota won a couple. Nba allowed sale and stole laker name too.

Teams were moved.
